  1. I'm getting one of those. Does anyone know what it does?
  2. That's the one Mick. I'm at pro-advanced stage with it now.
  3. Great book Ian, but Pete Donzelli died when a tree shat itself. Always worth remembering that they are the unknown factor.
  4. Although I must point out I have never been guilty of that....
  5. I get where you're coming from mate. Some reductions can end up looking almost too perfect.
  6. You won't get a job as a climber, you need to look for positions asking for an unskilled brash-dragger and work your way up.
  7. There isn't much point in any of this unless you know the exact breaking strain of the tree.
  8. Give the Pfanners a go Rich, much grippier than the North ones. Yes, you spoilt the natural look of the fir a bit.
  9. Superb Reg. Im going to watch the phone video when the wife has gone to bed.
  10. That would be the moonshine Mick. 'Those darned Dooks.....'
  11. Sorry to hear that Mick. When are you swapping them out?
  12. Nothing is ever going to tick all the boxes in all conditions. Just get the ones that look the coolest.
  13. If you are in a situation where you must do it, just keep your mind in the game, every single cut. Your arm and body position needs to be right, and the arm holding the cut section and the bar need to be moving in opposite directions on release. If this can't be achieved you need to reassess. Never go too big - brushwood can be bloody heavy! Doing it every cut is an ingrained, slovenly habit. I've seen climbers cut and hold every limb to then throw them vertically downwards. WTF? There is also a macho bullshit element at play here. I've seen a few lads with burst forearms in a tendon cast. They weren't very quick, and they weren't earning much either. Their lasses left them and they ended up turning gay and being homeless.
  14. I did think that Gary, and I see where you're coming from, but this TPO was issued after the tree crime. You're not wrong, there are three TPO's near me where the trees haven't been there for several years.
  15. There are quite a few breaches of Elf and Safety there Tony.
  16. Live fast. Die young. Stay pretty.
  17. Nice one Dan. Bloody impressive project.
  18. TPO's on crap like this only serve to cheapen the 'value' of a TPO imo. There is one near me on 4 birches in a line that have been 'pollarded' at about 12' and are just rotten mushbags.
