  1. ? Back to the tests, how much force is actually exerted? Is it ever enough to further damage an already compromised tree or root system?
  2. I bet they didn’t pull very hard with the Greenpeace building being just down the road.
  3. It's great that disabled people are training hard as well!
  4. Moving on to more serious matters, discuss please.
  5. Is it an early one Al? I think they were only about 30% the power of a 200T anyway?
  6. It's just so easy for a simple typo to become false news....
  7. Hahaha, I know your temple has a fairly relaxed door policy mate! I'm squatting again for the first time since my knee op. Body weight only, just looking for volume at the moment, doubt I'll ever go back to heavy back squats, not that I was ever much good at them. I had a few dodgy moments as a teenager training upstairs on my own without racks and getting into all kinds of bother!
  8. Is there a Smith machine in the gym J? Makes it much more comfortable for front squats (on your shoulders at least!).
  9. You need 2 pairs of boots. Wearing chainsaw boots for landscaping work is like burning £20 notes.
  10. Best explanation of a technique for ages Mick, quality! As said, really handy for the odd piece. When there’s lots of rigging involved though, it’s time to break out the block, the bollard, and add another groundy. I get the Safebloc concept for compromised stems, but I’ve managed without one for long enough.
  11. Mirrors my thinking exactly Eggs. Good explanation Matty.
  12. I love that fly fishing fox watching story Matty, I remember you telling me. I’ve shot plenty back in the day, and totally appreciate the need for control, but wouldn’t now unless there was a really specific need. There’s a lot of people out there indiscriminately blatting everything without knowing how foxes work. Take out an alpha dog and you get a surfeit of pretenders moving in vying for his territory, and you get more problems. Seeing a fox out on a walk now is far more satisfying to me than not seeing one. It’s rare, because Dutchie hates foxes! We met one in heavy snow up the woods a few years back, it just trotted up the ride towards both of us, jinked slightly to avoid a head-on, and gave us an ‘Alright?’ glance as he passed a few yards away. Weirdly, Dutchie sort of did the same. Magical.
  13. Well that’s an obvious one. He’s a politician. QED
  14. That’s a ridiculous waste of land. Why people can’t just buy their beef at supermarkets like the rest of us is beyond me. Those bastard farmers have a lot to answer for.
  15. Did Trump say what most of think? Of course he did. Should he have said it? Of course he shouldn’t. Moving on, billionaire Richard Branson bans The Daily Mail from Virgin trains for ‘moral’ reasons. Didn’t you just sue the NHS, Richard?
  16. I reckon he’s exaggerating.
  17. I’d only ever go on specific soil samples. Where I live it can go from heavy clay to silty sand in a few metres. I’ve dug enough holes to know that. Heave is pretty rare ime. Big tree predating crap foundations in the right conditions of shrinkability maybe. Staged reduction, also known as ‘delaying the inevitable’ is pretty pointless. If the tree fell over, as it will naturally one day, the result is exactly the same. I’d just get on with it. That butt is worth about £20k.
  18. I was. I immigrated from Northumberland to Kent.
  19. I hope they go tits up. I’ve never forgiven them for doing away with Alfred McAlpine because they felt Carrillion was a ‘stronger brand’. Twats. I had some of the best times of my life when I was a McAlpines Fusilier.
  20. That’s all we need, someone piping up with a sensible comment. You should be ashamed of yourself.
  21. Canny story that Vesp, but it’s unusual behaviour. Hope the little fella wasn’t ill.
