  1. Paul is 96 Mick.
  2. Not muffs and visor it isn’t.
  3. Dave, I’m not including you or others on here who are similar in the ‘DIY fuckwits’ group. You might not be pros, but you use pro PPE, you’re on this site to learn stuff, and seem to have the necessary respect for saws. I’m talking about people who I see all too often who are totally clueless. Waving their blunt Toolstation saw about with the obligatory 20” blade in their safety Levi’s and trainers, no lid, muffs or visor. I will be as rude about people like that as I want. If I said what I really think of them Steve would ban me. I’m not disrespectful to them, I have no respect. Why should I? Matty was spot on with his post. Our lives would be better without them.
  4. Exactly Dog. I’d love to see the stats of chainsaw injuries suffered by those who have had pro training and mentoring vs. DIY fuckwits.
  5. Boring and efficient. Nice one.
  6. Why? Would you try and try and protect people who decide to ‘have a go’ at titting around with their own gas supply? Chainsaws are dangerous, it’s why they work so well. Dumbing them down just so some amateur fuckwit cheapskate weekend warriors don’t cut themselves isn’t very high on my priority list.
  7. It’s a noble project Pete, but I don’t think it’s got legs. I have a book I can lend you called ‘Chainsaw injuries that were the chainsaws fault’. It will be cheap to post, it has no pages.
  8. I think stick is the operative word Andrew. This customer wants the moon on one….
  9. That’s a Gucci powered one, but yes.
  10. I might give him a buzz mate. Macca has done plenty too, it’s the ‘guarantee’ thing that doesn’t sit well with me.
  11. Pump truck. Avoid customers with steep gravel drives.
  12. Better than your suggestion.
  13. It would look shit reduced Dan, maiden pedunculate oak with all the action at the tips. Any meaningful reduction would be a ‘rollard’.
  14. Thanks Andrew. I’d rather not get involved now, I’ve never guaranteed any tree is 100% safe, and I’m not about to start.
  15. The fans will definitely wear with age, like anything. Could be worth replacing, but it won’t be cheap. It could also be that the B&S engine is just down on power after years of use.
  16. A guy we have worked for has a mature oak with a large, historic split down the middle fairly close to his house. It would be fairly catastrophic if it failed (the split has been there for years). We could install Cobra bracing, but I have no qualifications in this, and wouldn’t offer him any guarantees in the event of failure. If anyone in Kent (High Halden area) wants to give him a quote for bracing, please could you PM me. I think rods much lower down would help as well, but this isn’t something I have the slightest clue about. He is highly opposed to having the canopy reduced.
  17. Try Clark Forest mate. https://www.clarkforest.com/media/uploads/cat-485/clark-forest-catalogue.pdf
  18. Logging doesn’t get better than this. Me and Macca on the saws ringing at waist level courtesy of a Intermacato Tigercat grapple with a good op.
  19. Forgot about them Mick. They should be paid every two hours.
  20. I’d go HP Super personally.
  21. 😂 Summer tyres! They are shipped from Italy mate. I can still get the Fedimas from Portugal. I still have stuff in customs in Oldbury that I paid for in May, excuse me if I doubt the stated delivery times….
  22. Thanks Blake and RAC Man, but as usual the tyres aren’t available in 185 75 R16. Transits have twin rears, so they are pretty skinny. I really feel the manufacturers are missing a trick here. A Transit will never be a 4x4, but extra traction in some situations would always be appreciated. As someone said earlier in the thread, having the correct rubber is probably the cheapest way to upgrade your vehicle.
  23. Quick follow up on this. Due to the current supply chain issues VFS have had this part on order for ages and none have come in. They did eventually manage to grab one for me, which arrived today. Fitted in a few minutes, problem solved! Thanks again all, and of course VFS. 👍
  24. Great vid John!
