  1. Perfectly put Dan. The drum chippers (with the GM CS100 being the gold standard) are just a much better design.
  2. Worky Quad saved the day here towing a 230 over a rough paddock to the base of a big conny, where the chip was staying. Saved a gruelling 75m dragathon.
  3. Moose! Where have you been hiding! Have a blast Stubs, ignore any advice from Eggs.
  4. See all that snow melting? Emissions from that saw, that’s why.
  5. I went for a log grab because I think it’s better suited to what I do, and the ball hitch on mine was a big factor, but the bucket grab is more versatile. I’d love to have both.
  6. Over to you @doobin and @AHPP!
  7. I wouldn’t zip chunky cord if I could help it, that’s normally rigged conventionally then pulled with a tag line if needs be.
  8. I made up my zip kit with 10 of these from Skyland, and 10 webbing slings. About a oner all in. You should use steel crabs not ali. Foin Oval Steel carabiner - Screw Gate SKYLANDEQUIPMENT.COM Foin Oval Screwgate Connector Foin have been making connectors for over 20 years proving their quality...
  9. If it’s half full I don’t need a loader.
  10. I am getting a BT pole though. I’m making a crane next week.
  11. Pallet forks are expensive! That’s honestly not a BT pole, it’s an old post!
  12. Another real consideration is that I plan to work on my own a lot more for jobs like hedgecutting, so the scope for ‘2 man lifts’ will decrease a bit.
  13. You can’t grab a fully loaded bag with the grab. Half loaded bags yes, but we can handball them anyway. Even if the lifter works it won’t come out much, just on jobs where there is an absolute shitload of dust or rakings and you just want to get home. Cost me nothing and took 20 minutes to make. Although I have spent considerable time arguing with people on the internet….
  14. Obviously, if it doesn’t work with a loaded bag he’s an idiot.
  15. Props to Alex for the idea. He’s a genius.
  16. Next stage - Try a bag with something in it!
  17. My bigger kit like that is covered, it’s the smaller kit I don’t think it was worth it.
  18. That doesn’t sound too bad on paper, but on gear over a year old the payout can be as little as 10%. So you could potentially be insuring £1k’s worth of gear for £700 pa, with a £500 excess. Read the small print guys, it’s all right there on page 167….
  19. I would be very, very careful with tool insurance at the minute. I sacked mine off because I don’t think it’s worth it.
  20. Then probably buy the bag lifter….
  21. DON’T SHOUT AT ME REUBEN. ALEX AND I BOTH KNOW YOU’RE WRONG! Had a piss about tonight with a fencing stake and Alex’s idea has legs in terms of lift height. I’ll have a play with some straight timber at the yard and report back.
  22. They aren’t a hedge Mick, they’re trees. Their chance to be a hedge has sailed. Fell or move on to the next job. Too many people kowtow to the topping thing, it’s stage one of a removal as we all know. It’s gyppo work. If they don’t want to hear it, f them.
  23. It would be price to fell or nothing for me.
  24. Slight problem is I haven’t got a bucket yet….
