That's this country all over though ! Make every thing covered by so much red tape no one is interested, certainly anything up to 6.5t shouldn't be classed as hgv imo. Cut the bs and red tape and allow drivers upto 6.5t on a normal licence but make the fines for over loading sting if caught and the amount of 3.5t trucks dragging there arse around would go down over night but no, the powers that be don't what that because all the o licence stuff is a massive cash cow!
  3. The company/boss will be held accountable by the HSE if and when something happens.

It might be worth worrying about if over loaded and some one gets hurt.

  10. Thanks Bob, not sure to be honest, vosa told me o would need my own but I could ask I guess. Airhorns and a cb.
  11. Thanks but it's a tiddler compared to yours!
  12. Nice one. I won't then.
  13. I get 205lt drums, used nowt else for 2 yrs now, pricey but you pay for quality..
  14. Well gone and done it! Bought a ex bartletts 6.2t isuzu, ready to go with a years mot. Let the stress begin.
  15. I guess also if your asking employees to drive you have a duty of care to those aswell .
  16. I agree Josh, it's not about changing to avoid it, it's about NOT changing to avoid it! The minute you try do the right thing you seem to get bombard with the stuff!
  17. I agree j there are so many people running round over loaded but with the current red tape there's no wonder so many people chance it. I guess guys like Peter and Bob who are used to the system can see things a bit clearer than us newbies.
  18. Nowt is easy in this life! Just gathering all information possible and this morning went to my local garage about inspections, there no problem £100 a time Inc greasing etc but then I ask about mot, basically round here with Vosa closing there testing stations there are only private ones left and I was advised to book a year in advance! What if it needs a re test I ask ( called 3 firms) 3 weeks if your lucky I get told! Basically with so many hgv round yorkshire and so few testing stations capacity is full.
  19. Dave you and i have a 12t train weight once you have the 107 restrictions lifted, basically by doing the test so at the moment although we have gf rights to drive 7.5t with a trailer we have the 107 restrictions limiting the train weight to 8.25t.
  20. f you have subcategory*C1E*(107) on your driving*licence*and wish to drive a vehicle and trailer with a combined weight of up to 12 tonnes you can apply for provisional subcategory C1+E in order to take the test.
  21. My licence say i have C1E hgv plus trailer so yours must be the same Dave , your older than me!
