  1. Too right mate, our 4012d has only 300 hrs on and for what I would get for it it's worth keeping, just bought a pred 360 as our little dosco is getting tired. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. The pred is a good machine and about the only 50hp machine that will do tight spaces. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. Wild guess 50hp! [emoji13] There a good machine but it's the power loss on the hydraulic head that is poor, my carton 4012d is just as fast grinding and that's 34hp, and I used both back to back, the pred is narrow though and has a dozer blade, my next machine. 8. Also remember that poplar can sucker from the roots, not a problem if you look after your garden, we felled 4 pops about 5 yes ago poised the stumps, git a call 6 months later to say the were still living, went round the stumps were dead alright but the owners had decided to make there garden a "nature garden" when I got there there were hundreds of 3ft pop suckers! . Pop is a second grade firewood, as above keep it dry and it's OK, I wouldn't want a full load delivering if I was paying for it but OK if mixed in or free. 9. I'm pretty much the same, I hate sharpening grinder teeth, I will give them a tickle up once from new then replace. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  10. I have an early mk1 never had any issues apart from the av spring, bought a new 201tc early on in the year and the plastics on that are poor with simular cracking like you have shown, it as also gutless till I drilled the exhaust and related set the auto tune, v nice now but plastics are still fragile. 11. You will be lucky to find any firm to hire you kit with no insurance for abvious reasons some firms will cover you under there's for a small fee. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. I had exactually the opersite experience with "subbies" not turning up at the drop of a hat, no respect for my kit or customers, didn't want to work in the rain, alway think they were worth a fortune cos they had a few tickets the list goes on, I know there not all like that, there's plenty of good se guys just my experience. I now have 2 full time and life is so much easier to plan, keeping them working can be a challenge sometimes. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. Stephen pretty much hit the nail on the head, the days of hiding behind a LTD company for the small business are gone, my finance needs a personal guarantor as does my bank over draft, there are benefits but the days of racking up massive debt and simply being able to walk away are long gone which IMO is a good thing as it makes people responsible for there actions.
  14. St8 here for 12 months, great machine and no problems. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. You will Eggs, anyone know if big John is going? Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app

  17. "Day rates" are for building sites and it's not something I would do for normal tree work, what happens if you tell them a day and you have it finished by 1pm? Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. Spot on Billy, that's what I need to head to. Joe this is probably the first week you have properly worked all year so quit moaning you wus ! Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. I certinly aren't complaining about being busy, and doing quote on a night is sometimes a must as quite a few domestics want to see you especially if it a job of a thousand bits, commercial clients are only through the day any way, I'm just trying to see how others manage there time, the office side of things isn't a problem I get in there when it's an easy day it's the actual traveling around that's the hard bit to sort. 20. hahahahaha I don't have the Skill to do that sorry mark! you have to be AA approved to make such cock ups. sorry Paul.
  21. The word Bolam and seriously never happen! Thanks mark.
  22. I don't need invoice to go as I have my own systems in place thanks, its more about time and people management really.
  23. Sorry if it's been done before, I have looked but couldn't find anything. This is aimed at the smaller firms really, when do you quote? this year has done my head in, so busy and trying to fit everything in has almost got to me (I remember Mr Blairs thread on stress) I have been out with the lads most days then trying to fit 2-3-4 quotes in a night and not getting in till 8pm which is totally stupid, we run 2 teams, 2 full timers as one team and me and a subbie as the other, I'm thinking of say 3 days on the tools and then doing all the quotes on say a Thursday and Friday inc evenings for those two nights, my only concern is weather people will put up with this as most will be at work and will they wait nearly a week if they call on a Friday? I'm up for sergestions as I need to run 2 teams but also want a little quality of life as well. Discuss please.
  24. Chainsaw gloves and boots are totally over rated and over priced, £200 Chainsaw boots will give little extra protection compared to quality work boots at half the price but this country is so rapped up in health and safety blame culture we have to cover our arses all the time. 25. Told you forst would sort it! Like any of the top manufacturers would. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
