  1. There's only one job worth doing! Pilot. Sponsored through college and uni, then things didn't quite work out - I ballsed up:blushing: R
  2. I've never really interviewed anyone, more needed staff given them a go, you know within a couple of hours if they're any good or not. Done a few intereviews though most grilling for the RAF. I would say a smart pair of jeans, shoes, and a plain t-shirt/jumper/shirt etc would suffice. Normally the company will give you an indication of what they expect, if not give them a bell and ask them. R
  3. I found this from a couple of places when buying mowers. Brought it from the place that came out and demoed it to me on the site it would be used at. When spending 20k+ I don't think that's unreasonable to ask. R
  4. Sounds interesting, hopefully they'll turn up at sumpoint??
  5. Only if you've passed your test before '97.................
  6. That would sound about right. I guess that's how land trains operate on the road to. R
  7. Coming up the motorway today I saw a fair towing two trailers behind one vehicle. What are the legalities of this? Could you tow a chipper and a trailer if you didn't exceed train weight? R
  8. Your best bet is to ring a few different insurance companies and explain exactly what you do. Well worth giving NFU a ring though, they're the cheapest for me R
  9. Yep thats the one, KSL Garage Services Ltd Unit 9, Simonswood Industrial Estate, Stopgate Lane, L33 4YA Kirkby, Merseyside United Kingdom Phone: 01515460800 if they haven't got it then it doesn't fit an LDV! I used to take both of mine there for MOT as it was in and out same day as all the parts new and secondhand were in stock. Hope it helps R
  10. Yep those one shots can be a lifesaver. I've got a few dotted around the place, car, van, shed, garage, etc etc. Only thing would be finding one when needed........ R
  11. Kirby's not to far from you is it. Go and see Kev as KSL he'll have a wing for you, or post you one out. He's got everything there for LDV's and is not badly priced. R
  12. I hope the book is thrown at the them. Now I know this may not be nice for the club, but a few cases like this and the public will think about using reputable tradespeople, and taking responsibility for their actions. Also sounds like there may be more to the story and the club could have employed these people for the result they were after.......... R
  13. Motorway work is scary, it's a necessity, and yep there will be accidents. I actually think you can be better off getting on with it than messing about with to many lane closures etc. People get frustrated in road works, and tend to pay less attention as they are not going as fast and so feel they can relax, and hence don't pay as much attention. When I was doing motorway work I was being paid decent money. There is a reason for this. It is dangerous, the briefing before you start illustrates, or did a few years ago this. You have a choice in life. Worst we had was without fail cones flying up everynight without fail! R

    wet work

I was wondering that, I have seen a few tractors on with tyres the 'wrong' way round, always assumed that there is a reason for it. R
  15. I'd disagree with you there. If they are going to prosecute then they need to have proof. You are innocent until proven guilty. I'd submit a 5day notice and get on with it. They'll let you know soon enough if they don't think it's appropriate, although the 5 day notice is more of a courtesy than anything else R
  16. Was he not talking about sawdust??
  17. Actually quite theraputic and rewarding, well some of the time........... Can you not use a 21inch hayter, will make a big difference!! Sounds very cheap to me, but it depends what your outgoings are, how long it's guaranteed for, how many extras you get etc etc. R
  18. Interesting, we've had two different answers from the people that are supposed to be in the know. I was thinking about dropping them an email but I'm a bit worried I might get answers I don't like...............
  19. I think you're right there. But IMHO far worse are caravans, where they only tow twice a year and haven't got a clue about noseweight and sail etc............ R
  20. Well you could do, but I'm sure that would just open another can of worms:001_smile:
  21. U gona mount the ickle chipper on the front of the trailer and chip straigh into it??
  22. That was the question I asked vosa when they did a roadside stop and they said they'd go on the actual weight of the trailer, from a weighbridge. They were very vague though. 3.5t would be the max permissable so I can't see how they could stop you using it at less than that. R
  23. Fairly sure this isn't correct, as I used to tow a twin axle trailer that was within weight limits before I did my trailer test. When I was stopped by vosa they said this was ok, but I wasn't towing at the time, and they seemed far to vague about it for my liking. R
