  1. Without being rude, you are deluded. Everyone could drive better. To think you are perfect is crazy (even trainers take training to keep skills current). I find the more people talk like you that when I get them on a course the worse they are. The more they say they only need one day the more time they actually need.
  2. Re test perhaps but I bet you would benefit hugely from some refresher training.

It used to be 50km radius now its 100km. However if you carry other peoples goods tacho is needed as soon as you move in most cases.
  4. 1, order the following forms D2 & D4 2, take a medical 3, apply for provisional 4, pass theory (100 questions) & hazard (19 videos) tests (mod 1a & 1b) 5, pass mod 2 case study test 6 pass mod 3 practical test 7, pass mod 4 practical demonstration test then each year do 7 hours CPC each year or 35 hours all in one go every 5 years.
  5. I have mixed feelings about those. I use one during a group fleet towing course to diagnose why one of their vehicles did not make the lights on a trailer work. It tested the trailer as fine & the vehicle as fine. When I looked closer the vehicles rear lights did not work at all. The main loom had been cut to the rear of the vehicle. The tester applied current to the socket, through the cars bulb to earth and found a circuit so declared it ok.
  6. Do you have a digital volt meter?
  7. Sounds more like a trailer fault than a vehicle fault. If all of one side of the trailer does not work sounds like a cut cable or the earth in the light unit is faulty. The brake lights are combined so if one works so should the other.
  8. Some plant trailers have adjustable drawbars.
  9. Make sure that the towbar is approved for use with a drop plate.
  10. The application of the regs changed around then. Whilst the law was the same the legal interpretation was different than it is now. That's how the Ifor William memo came about. Lots if farmers got nicked with the then new pickups that had lower tow limits.
  11. Only for licences. Two offences two different laws re how they are enforced.
  12. DVSA to get it done. You will need a weight ticket for the empty weight. After that its a paper work job.
  13. Yes if you call a memo an official source of information.
  14. Its all in here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/towing-a-trailer-with-a-car-or-van/towing-a-trailer-with-a-car-or-van-the-basics
  15. Out of date as in its from VOSA who have not existed for about 4 years & that the info when this was made was almost a secret as so few people knew about it. It is now publicly known & on the Gov website advice pages.
  16. Found it on page 3. It does not say what he was done for. I am betting it was no BE licence, not exceeding his GTW. Or the offence was over roughly 10 years ago as understanding then was different.
  17. Cant see any posts by EdwardC?
  18. Vehicles need a plate showing the maker, the ID number & the weights. The law does not saw who can make or fit that plate for class 0 & 1 trailers. Only class 2 3 & 4 which have what is known as "plating" done by the ministry class 0 & 1 do not have plating they have a plate. Different things.
  19. What did he actually get done for?
  20. I would advise anyone reading this thread to ignore most of it as it is wrong. Based on my mate said or this happened to me but they are mixing the laws up.
  21. WRONG You can also drive a combination of vehicle and trailer where the total of both MAM & MLPM is 3500kg or less. That could with say a Mondeo with a MAM of 2000kg allow you to tow a trailer plated to 1500kg.
  22. You are confusing your self and the laws in play. Did you have a B or a BE licence?
  23. As long as a, you have a BE licence AND b, the real weight is under 2100kg You are legal.
  24. Only for licence laws. ie if you only have a B licence. For C&U offences as long as the real weight is within limits you are legal.
  25. No you dont to any of them. That only applied to real plated vehicles like lorries & trailers over 3500kg.
