  1. Or your memory is going........
  2. I wonder if they were playing games with the system. Some lorry & bus companies have their own approved testers but only for their own staff. I wonder if they held the test till the first licence was issued then sent in the second forward dated.
  3. Whats the pass dates for both?
  4. Yeh then you could take the CE without waiting for the licence to come back.
  5. The licence after passing could come back in 10 days BUT if you booked a course & test and then it does not come back in time you loose your money. So best to wait till its in your hand.
  6. C & CE? Or even straight to CE. You cant do that anymore.
  7. Thats an interesting one. The driving side I can be quite accurate, the theory / cpc side is very much down to you. Start studying for the theory Mod 1a / 1b today & give it serious time & you could pass in a month assuming tests are available. I would also do the Mod 2 study & test at this stage. Pass all 3 tests then book a mod 3 course & test. In winter I could get you in within a month. In summer you might wait 3 months. You cant book the mod 3 in case you fail. Also do the Mod 4 at the same time as the Mod 3. Or when you do the C1E. Times for practical courses:- Mod 3 C1 14 hours over two days inc test Mod 3 C1E 7 to 10 hours over 1 or two days inc test Mod 4 3 hours inc test
  8. Not at all. The tractor is an exemption. Plus a tractor at 30mph has less energy that a car & trailer at 60mph. Never mind a 7.5 toner running with trailer up to 12000kg. Travels far less distance & hours on the road too.
  9. Costings with us medical £50 Mod 1a/1b £60 Mod 3 £365-£585 Mod 2 £40 Mod 4 £130 To add E £365- £485
  10. You cant do it that quick. You have to pass C1 then send licence off. When it comes back then take C1E.
  11. But then you cant go straight to C1E either. The full process is as follows:- Order D2 & D4 forms Take medical Apply for provisional Take mod 1a & Mod 1b tests (LGV theory & hazard) Take Mod 3 practical test. IF you need CPC Take Mod 2 test Take Mod 4 test
  12. You cant just do your class 1. You have to take C first, then CE. Budget about £2.5-3k
  13. Do you actually need C & or CE? Would C1 & C1E cover it? Lots cheaper to get.
  14. Nope. You can tow still on the BE but with any vehicle over 3500kg you can only tow 750kg plated trailers.
  15. Rog What do you make of the recent changes to the Tacho guidance & the DCPC guidance? Ditto the haulage & trailer regs inc trailer registrations (currently only for EU use but UK will happen too I bet) & the potential for trailer MOT's?
  16. Thats why its good to post new threads as the info gets a, lost in the many pages & b, filled up with questions that are actually covered if you read it all. Plus no one reads stickies lol.
  17. https://www.kudauk.ltd.uk/shop/health-and-safety-equipment/height-indicators https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tachodisc-WHVHI-Vehicle-Height-Indicator/dp/B00CJBXNZ2 ‘From 1st October 1997, if the overall travelling height of a motor vehicle or trailer exceeds three metres there must be a notice in the cab…’ It must: be where it can be easily read by the driver and have numbers at least 40mm tall indicate the overall travelling height (to a tolerance of plus 150mm) be in feet/inches or in both feet/inches and metres (but not in metres only!). (If you’re going to do both the heights indicated must not differ by more than 50mm. be clear i.e. no other letters or numbers capable of being confused with the height indicated may appear in the cab notice and there must be no other notice displayed in the cab that could be confused with this notice. What is overall travelling height? ‘the overall height from ground level of the vehicle, its equipment and load. When drawing a trailer, overall travelling height means the overall height of the vehicle/trailer combination, its equipment and load.’
  18. C&U regs and has been for years. Any vehicle or load over 3m high must have a sign visible to the driver from his normal driving position. The DVSA are HOT HOT HOT on this just now due to all the bridge strikes. They have even changed the initial CPC module 4 test to cover this as the problem has become so bad. Checking the height & sign settings (you can get adjustable ones) should be part of the drivers walk round check that they should do every day or after leaving the vehicle un attended.
  19. If going for a tall 7.5 tonner make sure you fit a height sign in the cab that the driver can see at all times. Add it to the drivers walk round check list. The height that this becomes law is 3m.
  20. Dunno, I was going to look before posting but at 14 pages long & on my phone thought better of it.
  21. They have now. Sadly its pre the 2013 changes. Unless it's been updated.
  22. We are looking at becoming an approved supplier for a grant funded scheme for training for forestry business based in Wales. The approval process is quite complex & costly for a small business like mine. How many of you would be interested in BE C1 & C1E courses based in North Wales if you could get substantial funding for the training? Please message via the link if you are interested. http://m.me/TrailerTrainingCymru
  23. Man & Processor available to cut & split your lengths. Up to 14" diameter & can split up to 600mm long. Handles twisty stuff but slows production as you would expect. Half or full day rates from £130 plus travel. Based in North Wales but will work any where for the right price. Production varies with wood, site & quality of help. A recent job that had a terrible site, awkward wood & poor help resulted in 15 IBCs per day. Most sites would easily out perform this.
  24. Do you mean builders bags or the vented 1 m3 bags?
