  1. Ah so the switch is on the trailer. I must have missed that option. I thought everyone was talking about using a side light wire.
  2. Use gel filled ones if you are going to use them.
  3. Till you need to borrow / hire a trailer or vehicle. Or you break down & they cant tow your trailer.
  4. Dont break down.
  5. If you get a fully pined sockets & plugs there are some spare terminals so as well as standard reverse lights for use on the road you could wire in rear flood lights too.
  6. No dont bodge it so its not compatible with any other vehicle or trailer. Do the job right & fit 13 pin plugs & sockets.
  7. Do the job properly & fit 13 pin plugs & sockets to them all.
  8. Felling licence exemptions Before making your application, please check the following list to find out if you need a felling licence. If your felling operation falls within an exempt category, you can start felling immediately. Location You do not need a licence to fell trees in: A garden An orchard A churchyard Type of work You do not need a licence to carry out the following activities: Lopping Topping Pruning Pollarding Volume and diameter You do not need a felling licence: to fell less than five cubic metres in a calendar quarter (note you cannot sell more than two cubic metres per calendar quarter) for trees that have the following diameters when measured 1.3 metres from the ground: 8 cm or less 10 cm or less, for thinnings 15 cm or less, for cutting coppice Other permissions You do not need a licence if you have a valid permission, granted in accordance with planning permission (according to the Town and Country Planning Act). Legal and statutory requirements You do not need a licence if you need to fell trees: that are dangerous, or in order to prevent a nuisance, this exemption only applies if there is a real rather than perceived danger or nuisance as recognised in law. You may be required to provide evidence that the trees present a danger, for example through an accredited arborculturalist's report or photographic evidence. A diseased tree is not necessarily dangerous. You are strongly advised to contact us if you are considering felling tree(s) you consider dangerous. You may be prosecuted for illegal felling if it is shown that the tree(s) did not present a real or immediate danger or they did not present a nuisance to comply with an Act of Parliament to enable you to carry out work as a statutory undertaker
  9. You have to wait 10 working days between tests now. Even getting a test date would mean you would not take a test that close to your 17th birthday. Plus theory test and that it takes much more time now to learn.
  10. The one day comment was re the fact that most people think they can pass a vocational driving test in one day. Virtually no one can unless they have already had some training recently.
  11. Without being rude, you are deluded. Everyone could drive better. To think you are perfect is crazy (even trainers take training to keep skills current). I find the more people talk like you that when I get them on a course the worse they are. The more they say they only need one day the more time they actually need.
  12. Re test perhaps but I bet you would benefit hugely from some refresher training.

It used to be 50km radius now its 100km. However if you carry other peoples goods tacho is needed as soon as you move in most cases.
  14. 1, order the following forms D2 & D4 2, take a medical 3, apply for provisional 4, pass theory (100 questions) & hazard (19 videos) tests (mod 1a & 1b) 5, pass mod 2 case study test 6 pass mod 3 practical test 7, pass mod 4 practical demonstration test then each year do 7 hours CPC each year or 35 hours all in one go every 5 years.
  15. I have mixed feelings about those. I use one during a group fleet towing course to diagnose why one of their vehicles did not make the lights on a trailer work. It tested the trailer as fine & the vehicle as fine. When I looked closer the vehicles rear lights did not work at all. The main loom had been cut to the rear of the vehicle. The tester applied current to the socket, through the cars bulb to earth and found a circuit so declared it ok.
  16. Do you have a digital volt meter?
  17. Sounds more like a trailer fault than a vehicle fault. If all of one side of the trailer does not work sounds like a cut cable or the earth in the light unit is faulty. The brake lights are combined so if one works so should the other.
  18. Some plant trailers have adjustable drawbars.
  19. Make sure that the towbar is approved for use with a drop plate.
  20. The application of the regs changed around then. Whilst the law was the same the legal interpretation was different than it is now. That's how the Ifor William memo came about. Lots if farmers got nicked with the then new pickups that had lower tow limits.
  21. Only for licences. Two offences two different laws re how they are enforced.
  22. DVSA to get it done. You will need a weight ticket for the empty weight. After that its a paper work job.
  23. Yes if you call a memo an official source of information.
  24. Its all in here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/towing-a-trailer-with-a-car-or-van/towing-a-trailer-with-a-car-or-van-the-basics
  25. Out of date as in its from VOSA who have not existed for about 4 years & that the info when this was made was almost a secret as so few people knew about it. It is now publicly known & on the Gov website advice pages.
