    Is this true?

When did Husqvarna start making McCulloch chainsaws? Just looked in a manual for one & the makers contact details are Husqvarna in Italy. Justme
  2. Still have over a weeks worth to go. The original idea was to make piles of the stuff along the road side & get a lorry & grab to get rid if it all. That was till I went to see the local people. Seems that the local tip (10 miles) is now council only & the nearest is a 5 hour round trip by lorry. They want £98 / ton (plus VAT) to collect & take to the tip. Plus the tip charge is £80 ton even if I take it myself. So I have to sepperate all the heavy soil & rocks from the rubbish. Justme
  3. Not your normal woodland forage finds I will admit. About 4 hours worth of foraging & still only covered a very small area. Plastic & other non glass or metal items All from this treasure trove of woodland goodies dug out of the roads side ditch. Richard

    Which saw?

Thanks for that. Yeh if I was doing it for my income at the levels (£2-400) I see quoted in here per day (I dont make that per week lol) I would have one of the big two. Also not to bothered about resale value as I find that once I buy a tool I keep it till its not economical to repair it or I modify radicaly it to do a one off job that then renders it as scrap. No I dont do 24" trees very often in fact I think I have done all the ones that need doing. I am only looking after a 1 hectare plot & restarting some copicing plus cutting fire wood. As the McCulloch has lasted 6 years with a minimal of new parts I dont think I need the build quality of the big 2. I do need better quaility than the cheep import saws. I have one & yes its got power but its so rough round the edges its not nice to work with for long. Would be ok for the actual felling of the bigger trees but not the snedding / trimming / ringing up. Justme
  5. Apart from clones & knock offs its not against the law to sell "grey" imports (as long as they are CE marked). One of the biggest cosmetic companies has just lost its case in court to stop people selling personal imported stuff on ebay. Do you think the might (well they do just about control the Gov as has been seen with all the money they have been given) of the car companies would allow grey import cars if they could stop them by using the law? Justme
  6. Saddly the 400 mile round trip would eat into the savings I think. Justme

    Which saw?

What about Dolmar? I thought they were good too? A quick google tells me that both the MS280i & the MS341 are out of my budget at just under £480 ish. Oddly the sellers have the 341 listed at 48-59cc dep on which site you look at. I was hoping to be spending less than that as this in not my work or employment or money earner so funds are tight. Which saw?

I am looking for a new saw. So far I have been using cheep ones. The first one I bought was a Mc'cullock with a 14" bar (about £145). Have had it for 6 years & its done a great job. Its light vibration free & easy to handle but could do with more power. I then bought a cheep Husky copy (I know its crap but for the amount of use I give it its ok & it was only £85 inc del & I got the VAT back). Its heavy & uncomfortable to use but does have power & a 22" bar. Both still work ok but the Mc needs a new clutch, bar, drive cog (its had all of that bar the cog once already plus a new set of antivibe mounts) plus all the screw holes are starting to wear & loosen. I tend to use the Mc unless it just wont do the job as its much nicer to use. My use is for felling trees up to about 24" plus cutting up into firewood on the floor & on a saw horse. I dont climb / do disasembles so dont need a top handled saw. I dont have any brand loyalty or any preference on make just that it should be light, powerfull, low vib, easy to maintain, reliable, value for money & not to costly. Justme
  9. Is it a good place to get some cheep kit deals? Looking for a new saw (will be asking for advice in another thread), celox & other first aid stuff, hard hat muffs & face guard, spare chains & I bet other stuff too. Justme
  10. Most biss accounts charge about 0.6% for cash deposits & withdrawals. You would not have to up your prices by the full 15% to keep the same bottom line profits as you can claim your inputs VAT back so offsetting some of the VAT you charge. Dep on your % of bought in running costs (fuel & equipment) to labour you would prob only see a 10% rise in your total prices. Also remember you can claim for some of the VAT you have paid for kit you still have for the last 6 years. Its also likely that you will loose some private customers but gain far more company work than you loose. Justme
  11. I must be going mad cos I cant find any diggers with thumbs. Did find a yellow one with a black grab. Also does not help that you cant search for a 3 letter word either so out of "zip line fun" you can oly search for "line". Justme
  12. I thought builders bags were 0.8m2? The ones I have just bought are any way. But then builders bulk sand bags are smaller. Justme
  13. Do you have any pics of your digger thumb? I am planning on making one for my digger so I am collecting ideas. Justme
  14. This chap HERE will make you one with prices starting at £325 Justme
  15. Use red or red mixed with car wax polish. Ohn & if it does stain wont that get removed when you plane it? Justme
  16. Change doctors for a more approachable one. They have been paid for all those years & they have not see you at all. So money for old rope. Justme
  17. Yes its lovely. I have been told that oak grown is not the best (I think he said beech was but dont quote me). Justme
  18. True but if your paying rent on the space the 500 tons is taking up then you are better off to shift it ASAP. Justme
  19. Must be just about to drop off as its getting warmer. Justme
  20. Has he shown you a "possesory title" or a "title absolute"? The former need at least 12 years with no challenge whilst the latter is complete ownership that cant be challenged. We purchased a plot with a possessory title & the sellers had to supply us with an indemnity policvy incase some one came along before the 12 years from traceable ownership was up. We have now had it for 5 years, they had it before that for 9 & we also now know the prevous owner has had it for longer than both of us together. Justme
  21. But be prepered for all your other sites to forget who you are as well. Would be better if the web sites could post the names of the files they use so you could just remove those ones. Justme
  22. Have logging 3 times with no problems today. Justme
  23. Using IE & chrome still the same. Justme
  24. Spoke to soon bad as ever this morning. Whilst talking about the site do others find it very very slow? Compared to other sites & forums this is by far the slowest (by a factor of about 5). So much so I open up all the pages I want then go surf another forum before coming back to still loading pages. Justme
