  2. ......................Yeah the beech is lion tailed too the left but i removed more here as it was the neighbours on this side that had complained about the light and had pressured the clients into the job, ........................or maybe im just crap:closedeyes:
  3. .........................The before and afters of the sycamore....................
  4. Did a couple of thinning jobs today. The first was a nice copper beech, didnt get a before but i think the finished tree looks OK. The second was a sycamore, for this tree the client wanted the trees branches taking away from the house, so i gave the tree a 3m clearence from the house and a general thin. I'll put before and after photos in the next post Nice easy friday climbing around trees with a silky
  5. Just set fire to it and say its a lightning hit monolith which is ideal habitat for rare red data book species of beetle
  6. whos fujicura ? Is that an Arb or Yahting supplier got a link
  7. Shameless has gone crap!!! The first couple of series where good the latest is just tired old manc cliche's its so far out of touch with reality its almost funny...........................:001_tongue: suppose thats the idea:001_smile: Oh well working in Manc tomoz better watch "i dont get bricked " LMFAO

  10. why not contact a local pest control firm, surely this is more there territory than say an arbs
  11. Some nice work posted on the last few pages, that big oak is an awsome job!!!!!!!!!! Bet the old arms were knacked after lugging that 88 up there:scared1: The car parked under the plain tree is classic :laugh1: (Like the way the brash is neatly piled around it )
  12. Did a rural skills and conservation course here about 12 years ago, iam thinking of turning up to see what the old college is like now Its a fair mooch but i'll think i'll make a few days of it and get some fishing done in this neck of the woods..................like i need an excuse:001_tongue: Is there a climbing comp at the show?
  13. Go for it! in a way it has worked out better for me. I work as a subby climber for two firms, and by doing this i manage to fill out my week. Ringing around few firms have the work to take on staff full time but are more inclined to offer a couple of days a week, if you can get on with a couple of outfits you may find that there is better chance of regular work than setting up your own buisness from scratch.
  14. Good job. I reckon crown reductions are one of the hardest jobs to do properly in arb.................a real skill. This is one area i really want to get to grips with and improve on. As the gaffer says, Crown reductions sort the men from the boys
  15. cheers for posting, along with legislation concerning bats its making me really paronoid/careful about the work i undertake, . But i suppose being aware can only be a good thing (covering all angles)
  16. :sleep1:Dont think they do them much good Seriously if its for college work try looking on defra website, contact AA, forestry commision, SNH they may be able to point you in the right direction with regards to info past research papers etc.
  17. As an arborist/tree surgeon it seems that its becoming more important to have an understanding of tree related flora and fauna and any legislation tied in with protected species. I took the advice given on this forum and contacted my local wildlife trust who were really keen to get me on board and involved in some local bat surveys. Due to go out and observe some survey work this week. At the end of May ive got a 2 day bat survey course (which is free ) to attend. The only condition seems to be that you complete at least 3 surveys (You can do more if you wish). As iam self employed this could be another string to my bow. Is there much work out there with ecological consultants doing bat surveys etc?
  18. Cool vid.................................Not as exciting as reducing leylandi hedges in salford ,
  19. Nice work...................TIMBER......................
  20. not sure what you mean by that? Am i missing somthing:001_smile: As said before the tree has never been pollarded, it was "lopped and topped" which is bad practice both asthetically and for the tree. As a result the tree was in poor health/condition and the neighbour was concerned seems pretty straightforward to fell the tree...........................
  21. I suppose it could have been reduced more but that would look crap. T be honest I didnt price the job as i just sub in but i think the main pressure was coming from the neighbour worried about his green house, grandchildren the light............... You get the picture He was a bit worried at first dont think the last lot inspired confidence but when he saw us rigging the tree down he relaxed

  23. There where loads of bad pruning cuts with tears and rips. A fair bit of decay was setting in and there where plenty of targets in neighbours garden (green house ) Best to "slick it" now. Overall crap tree
  24. It had never been "pollarded" it was a mature tree that had its crown "topped" out (bad practice).
  25. cheers for the reply.
