  2. ..........What these little beasties are? Are they detrimental to the trees health? I found them whilst working out in france a couple of years ago doing thinning work in an old fruit orchard.
  3. "snakes-head fratillary" found it last spring........................dont know if it would count..................theres trees in the background:001_smile: Better get out with the camara.......................
  4. the bloke i sub for sells split seasoned hard wood for £80 for a level full 2m squred tipper back. Demand has been good all winter and continuing into the spring............... This bloke keeps waste wood (poplar, leylandi etc) seperate for dissposal. This pile used to have to be commercialy removed which could be expensive, this year this pile has "mysteriously" decreased by half, weve even disturbed people helping themselves. Not to bothered about this although it would be nice to have been asked. Just goes to show how little the general public understand about the correct types of wood to burn. What are the current law/rules at the moment with regards to burning wood in the home?..............................

  9. s**t Hot that, good reduction jobs sort the men from the boys, need to get some more practice at this.
  10. agree with skyhuck, if your in this trade you NEVER stop dragging brash. If you want more experience try some "rec" climbing, jobs for friends and family, and get some more training modules done. Theres no easy route into this trade, iam just starting to make a bit of proggress and it was hard work...............but i love it Like someone said on here arb is a way of life its either in your blood or not.
  11. I went there years ago doing a "countryside skills course". Did my first chainsaw training here (huskies and chainsaw chaps:001_tt1:) What sort of level of tree climbing do you need to enter........................could be fun to see what the place is like now:001_smile:

    Narly Pop

My turn to be groundsman today:001_cool: Did this narly lombardi poplar. Good day to be doing tree work not a cloud in the sky and a dusting of snow:001_cool: Glad i was on the deck, hate climbing pops:001_tongue:
  14. come to mention it not really, but i may be wrong. There did seem to be a lot of Betula regen.
  15. have a closer look mister tee, chainsaw is hung on a peg. I hung it there as it was difficult to climb through the wires with the saw. That branch was a bit tricky so i thought id play it safe with the silky. Knocked the top out and dissmantled the rest with the 200. Love silkys always have one on my harness no matter what the situation:001_tt1:
  16. controversial cones will crop better in the future (lol)
  17. oops cheers john
  18. echos are underrated. I have to agree with timbercutter, ive got a CS 5000 its a 98 model and still doing sterling service. Dont get me wrong i mainly use stihls, but the larger echos are damn fine back up saws. (IMO )
  19. Heres a few pics of a ceder i dismantled on monday. A little tricky, it had several phonelines running through it, hopefully you lot wont be too critical not been doing this long:001_tongue:
  20. ive been using the marlow gecko and dont find it half as bad as some are making out . recently started using edelrid timber blue. Compared with the gecko this rope is much more suple and lighter. Iam now using the gecko for slimy wet trees and sticky conifer/pines. Now save the edelrid for "sunday best"
  21. sweet pics bob. where abouts in salford?
