  6. I think the steak was being cut on a bench that did not have the system fitted to show what we all know that it would cut flesh!
  7. The Rockinger hitch is plenty strong enough to pull the weight that you require but you must be careful not to overload the nose weight of the trailer, a trailer can only impose a maximum of 1000kg downwards force on the towing vehicle and a rockinger hitch is designed to withstand extreme pulling forces but not massive downwards forces. This is why adjustable drawbar trailers are best suited to Unimogs. As a matter of interest even HGVs drawbar trailers can only impose upto 1000kg on the towing vehicle even when the combination gross's out at 44tonnes hope this is of some help:thumbup:
  8. I think disctretion is the better part of valour so i'm going to keep out of this thread:tongue_smilie:
  9. Personally I am not a fan of copy blades, I have heard of, and seen some very expensive failures of blades with the majority being pattern blades, there are many different things that can cause a blade to fail inc. incorrect torquing, trapping dirt behind the blade, incorrect adjustment etc, I prefer to remove as much risk of damage as possible so use genuine blades for a little peace of mind.
  10. :banghead:I think the school is being a bit pushy, surely no means no not try me again tomorrow
  11. You will always get a more inconsistant chip size with a disc chipper than with a drum machine, IMO if you are needing a G30 chip for a boiler a disc chipper is not the way to go the big lumps will cause chip feeding problems. Even drum machines get larger straifs especially from the cut end of the timber. As already stated speeding up the fly-wheel and slowing down the in-feed will help. I hope you get the chip quality that you need.

Everyone to his own but I think it looks better on the stag:sneaky2:
  13. Did a couple of days training with Husqy a few years ago and they said then that they could tell whether their oil had been used in a saw by the staining from the mix, they did not say that it would affect the warranty if it was not their oil used but they assess each claim and 2 stroke oil used is part of the assessment, they also said that their oil is no better than their main competitors so I think it would be very unlikely that they would turn down a warranty claim on the type of oil used alone.
  14. Don't get me wrong, I am not dissing the man or machine but there seemed to ba alot of reaching into the hopper when feeding, by the looks of it there is very little chance that your hand could reach the drum but is there an issue or am I just getting caught up in Nanny culture of health and safety?
  15. QUOTE=Mr Ed;179899]Baz, can you quote me on a long term hire? Feel free to PM. If you are interested in a jensen on contract hire let me know
  16. Sorry to hear about the theft of the chipper, if you want to let me have the serial number I will make sure that our parts dept at Redwood have it on record as stolen for future reference. May be best to PM it to me if you want.
  17. Mate of mine been over in Melbourne since July, got sponsored by a company there to up sticks and move his family over. He has not shut up about how good it is in his emails so some of what you hear must be true.
  18. Just received this from a mate in Oz, a bit long but worth a read. sorry if its already been posted. Maths Teaching 1970 to date 1. Teaching Maths In 1970 A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit? 2. Teaching Maths In 1980 A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100. His cost of production is 80% of the price. What is his profit? 3. Teaching Maths In 1990 A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100. His cost of production is £80. How much was his profit? 4. Teaching Maths In 2000 A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100. His cost of production is £80 and his profit is £20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20. 5. Teaching Maths In 2005 A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habit of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. Your assignment: Discuss how might the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes just for a measly profit of £20. 6. Teaching Maths In 2009 A logger is arrested for trying to cut down a tree in case it may be offensive to Christians, Hindus, Jews, Muslims or other religious groups not consulted when granting a felling licence. He is also fined a £100 as his chainsaw is in breach of Health & Safety legislation as it deemed too dangerous and could cut something. He has used the chainsaw for over 20 years without incident however he does not have the correct certificate of competence and is therefore considered to be a recividest and habitual criminal. His DNA is sampled and his details circulated throughout all government agencies. He protests and is taken to court and fined another £100 because he is such an easy target. When he is released he returns to find Travellers have cut down half his wood to build a camp on his land. He tries to throw them off but is arrested, prosecuted for harassing an ethnic minority, imprisoned and fined a further £100. While he is in jail the Travellers cut down the rest of his wood and sell it on the black market for £100 cash. They also have a leaving BBQ of squirrel and pheasant and depart leaving behind several tons of rubbish and asbestos sheeting. The forester on release is warned that failure to clear the fly tipped rubbish immediately at his own cost is an offence. He complains and is arrested for environmental pollution, breach of the peace and invoiced £12000 plus VAT for safe disposal costs by a regulated government contractor. Your assignment: How many times is the logger going to have to be arrested and fined before he realises that he is never going to make £20 profit by hard work, give up, sign onto the dole and live off the state for the rest of his life? 7. Teaching Maths In 2010 A logger doesn’t sell a lorry load of timber because he can’t get a loan to buy a new lorry because his bank has spent all his and their money on a derivative of securitised debt related to sub- prime mortgages in Alabama and lost the lot with only some government money left to pay a few million pound bonuses to their senior directors and the traders who made the biggest losses. The logger struggles to pay the £1200 road tax on his old lorry however, and as it was built in the 1970s it no longer meets the emissions regulations and he is forced to scrap it. Some East European loggers buy the lorry from the scrap merchant and put it back on the road. They undercut everyone on price for haulage and send their cash back home, while claiming unemployment for themselves and their relatives. If questioned they speak no English and it is easier to deport them at the governments expense. Following their holiday back home they return to the UK with different names and fresh girls and start again. The logger protests, is accused of being a bigoted racist and as his name is on the side of his old lorry he is forced to pay £1500 registration fees as a gang master. The Government borrows more money to pay more to the bankers as bonus's are not cheap. The parliamentarians feel they are missing out and claim the difference on expenses and allowances. You do the maths.
  19. I believe that United Utilities in Blackburn are looking to take on a few new crews between now and the end of the year, it may be worth getting in touch with them and getting your name at the top of the list. Good luck:thumbup1:
  20. I wish him all the best, an accident like this must take some getting over. Surely the payout will depend on who's found to be at fault, will he stand to get anything if the chipper is found to be in a safe operating condition? Theoretically speaking, if the operator has been trained but is found to have not been working to industry best practice will he be eligable for anything? I do not know how these things work!
  21. Andy There is a company in North Lancs that builds canal boats, they have not been building them for long but seem to have a good name in the local market, (Pintail Boats). It may be worth speaking with them as they will have the contacts in the local mariners and may be a help. If you want the number of the owner drop me a pm and I will pass it on to you.
  22. Try Walker Recycling in Formby, they travel far and wide
  23. I know where there are 4 A530 tracked ranging from 250hrs to 800hrs at between 6500GBP - 8000GBP. I am away at moment but if interested i will pick up my pms in the next day or so
  24. Sounds like you have already done some design work for Jensen:stupido: I will frighten you with the price after I have checked with the factory:scared1:
  25. As promised pics of self propelled unit built for america, looks a bit :confused1:with the removable side wheels but excellent for narrow access and is a true 6" chipper.
