  1. Piriton- 4 times a day !!!!!!!! Blimey. I bet that made you feel really bad.
  2. So in order to show your compitent you need a cert of comp ie a cs unit. If you don't have basic chainsaw units a person is unlikely to start off with getting insured. The insurance companies want to see your tickets when you sign on the dotted line.
  3. If a person does not have 40-41 and is dismantling a tree, has some sort of accident and insurance gets involved. Would they be insured? I have 40-41 but a lot of the 1 man bands and small companies round my way do not. I make a point of telling them I have the right u it's to do the job but they don't seem to mind.
  4. Just got myself a petal helmet. Had the husky helmet before. Wow what a difference. It's comfy and with husky ear defenders works a treat.
  5. XL please
  6. I have wired up a caravan charger to my truck so when I plug the lights in I also plug the trickle charger in. This charges the IW battery as I go along. When I come to tip I have to turn the engine off as it would blow the fuse. Other than that it works great. Cost in all about £40 to put in myself. Hope this helps.
  7. Cheers rob. Thanks agg that was a really thorough answer. Basically I can prune but less fruit and less vigour. Piece of mind.
  8. I have a job next week to prune various apple and plum trees. Will it affect the trees much if I do this and what will be the effect ?? Any feedback greatly received.
  9. Depends on how far away it is from you costs etc
  10. I am looking at getting a petzl helmet but it says they are not to be used on the ground, only in the tree. HB's website I think. Can anyone shed any light on this??
  11. Thanks for your help. Basically from this time of year onwards a climbing inspection of the work in hand is a must. I think I will wear my pigeon begone aftershave when climbing now.
  12. Abc shirts. Not a user friendly website.
  13. Now the birds are starting to nest, what are the laws on taking conifers down, hedge trimming and tree work in general? Can we not work on a tree cuz there is a nest there? Cheers h
  14. Just washing 'the kit' off back at the yard
  15. Yes but we don't want to compare it to the 70's. This is hitting us hard now, so saying it's not so bad is not true. It is so bad.
  16. It is a very dirty but who's to say it was due for a wash tomorrow. Might have been doing some very dusty chipping for the last few days. He only posted this to warn others. Which he has done for me ........................ ......... If I had a chipper.
  17. They have a risk assessment called DORA. This stands for dynamic operational risk assessment. This means that the risk can always be assessed and re assessed all the time so no paper work when turning up to a job cuz the risks are always changing. Yes I was in the fire service and yes there was a lot of politics.
  18. I was looking in diag of I'll health in trees. Thanks for your quick response guys
  19. I was working on the horse chestnut and found this growing on some of the larger limbs and the bark had died off quite badly. Which made me worry as this is a large tree next to houses. It has had a fairly large limb split off in the past. It would be a shame to take it down. Other limbs have large cracks in the running all the way up them, it just isn't in the best of health. Will try and get some other photos
  20. I was thinning out a horse chestnut and found this up the trunk. The bark had died off badly.
  21. I am looking at getting one, has anyone got one and like it?
  22. I cant see him doing planning reports for industrial/ private plots on old woodland.
  23. So you would have the chipper rear mounted chipper shooting fowards into a hopper which can tip sideways. The chipper mounted lower so easier to load. Sounds like a plan.
  24. Poll for the deepest thread. This is defiantly a winner.
