  1. Yeah, that's what I thought, it's been there quite a few years. I figure it's growing on a small raised bit of land or an ancient hedge maybe, and the roots have been exposed by livestock milling around and sheltering under the canopy probably. It looks a bit like Gorse growing around the trunk. My interest is piqued now so I'll investigate further another time. We'll no doubt go back again as it's a lovely spot. At the start of a tidy walk up a big hill. Brown Clee Hill in Shropshire. The highest in the county and as legend goes the highest bit of land until you get to Russia, in that easterly direction. Apparently .The view from the top is spectacular.
  2. Could've/should've done I suppose, but it was a private field with a large fence.
  3. Seriously? Cloud Seeding in the UK?! Or you mean the butterfly effect of cloud seeding elsewhere in the world is behind our changing weather? I think throw away the tin foil hat and have yourself a good dose of Occam's Razor instead.

  5. I saw this yesterday, not a great photo unfortunately as it was in the middle of a field. Not a very big tree but it did look old. I'm guessing it's a Field Maple, (living up to its name for once). Any advance? Also, there appears to be another small tree or shrub growing part way up the trunk. Wish I could've got closer to investigate.

  11. At least the job hasn't trebled in size. Better than the customers who promise they'll "make sure that the leylandii/privet/laurel hedge is trimmed regularly now, so it's nice and easy next time you come".
  12. Nah, they're alright, just being "blokes". Apparently. Farage condemned for saying influencer Andrew Tate is β€˜important voice for men’ WWW.INDEPENDENT.CO.UK The Reform UK leader said the misogynist online influencer had raised awareness of β€˜men becoming feminine’ and stood up for...
  13. I'm not exactly sure but it revolves around abusing and taking advantage of women mainly I think. Plus persuading easily influenced men to give them lots of money. Oh, and not paying tax evidently!
  14. No suprise here. Andrew Tate and brother Tristan accused of serial tax evasion WWW.BBC.CO.UK Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan are accused of failing to pay any UK tax on Β£21m of revenue.

  16. I've not really been following this story, it's a bit tedious, but isn't it a case of state regulation? Or lack thereof? Sounds like another example of big companies, utility companies especially, being allowed to ride rough shod over normal hardworking working people who are just trying to get on in life. Those same people who pay their wages, those customers who they're meant to be serving. Just like the water companies being allowed to dump shit wherever they want, or gas companies being allowed to make ridiculous profits whilst ripping off their bill payers or train companies being allowed steal money for trains that don't work, or indeed HS2 being allowed to rip out 1000s of acres of ancient woodland, for nothing. A decent government wouldn't have allowed stuff like that to happen. These companies like SSE wouldn't be able to do what the fck they liked across the land, other people's land. BRSK are another one. A new internet company on the block who are putting up infrastructure all over the country. They seem to be able to put poles up wherever they like, not even local councils have any say apparently. So it's actually nothing to do with renewable energy, or net zero. Not a direct consequence at least.
  17. Nice one. Do make sure to protect the bark from abrasion at points where it touches the batten, if there's any kind of relative movement. The latter will be a lot rougher and tougher than the former.

    The post

I'd be a bit concerned about that. Nudge nudge, wink wink.
