  1. Bit addled again. You'll have to explain the random use of double quotation marks there. What has Israel got to do with anything, other than the fact that they buy a lot of US arms? I don't believe they make Apple products there, (they do grow a lot of actual apple apples obviously!). Anyway, it's not the US arms and aerospace industries that your man is trying to bring back onshore, it's all the other stuff that they buy from China, and the rest of the world.

  7. M and B, who own a Toby Carvery nextdoor, thought it was dead. So I've just heard. I reckon they saw a photo of it in the winter.
  8. Supposing for the sake of argument that Trump can somehow, miraculously, conjure up the massive infrastructure, supply chains, technical skills and whatever else is required to bring US manufacturing back onshore in the next couple of years, (to achieve his pretence, to MAGA). Essentially an impossibility in my opinion. The average hardworking American, just trying to get on in life, is not going to be willing or indeed able to work as hard as the average hardworking Chinese. When oh when are people going to realise the reality of the situation?
  9. True enough. It just seems a shame to have carried out such a brutal pollard operation on a decent looking tree, unless there was a valid reason. It'll be interesting to see the details come out on the story. Probably authorised by an office bod somewhere, who's never seen the tree.
  10. I think you could be right on the first point. πŸ€” Not the second though; it's free to download. Or at least it was when I got it, I wouldn't have got if otherwise.

  17. Gareth, with all due respect, there is a large gap in perception here; with regard to where you are placed on the political spectrum. (Based on your contributions to this forum) Let's see your result for this as as starting point. Or any other such indication tool. It'll only take you 5 minutes. 19. I don't think that matters. Just chose what you think is a suitable time and then just set it going to do it's thing. It's remarkably good at filtering out ambient noise and picking out even distant bird calls/songs.
  20. And that folks, says it all really. Just in case anyone hasn't yet formed an opinion. Thanks for the corroboration, again Davey.
  21. He'll clearly come out on top, much like Putin. They're both players of the long game. They can both concentrate for more than five minutes on a strategy for starters; which is four more than Trump can manage! Plus China has huge resources, of almost any form necessary to weather a standoff with the US. I'll stick my neck out and say that America will be worse off at the end of it all. Not just economically, but in terms of "soft power" as well.
  22. Defo Cherry Laurel. Does is smell vaguely like almonds? Almond essence to be more precise. Makes good firewood anyway, as its a high density timber.
  23. Fair enough, you've asked a question so I'll answer it. The bin situation is obviously pretty shit here. Other than that Brum is as good and vibrantly multicultural as ever. I don't quite understand the question about the steel industry, it's not phrased very well. I think you're saying it would be good for it to be British owned. I completely agree. I'd go further and also nationalise all critical infrastructure and utilities. Yes I was talking about the democratically elected president of America. Or POTUS, as in this thread title. I asked two very simple, quite civil, questions in the name of normal adult discussion of a pertinent topic. I asked you as you've previously been very vocal on this subject. (Though surprisingly reticent for the last week or so). It's always good to get an insight into the thinking behind an opposing viewpoint, that's how conversation works. So. As a former fan of President Trump, what do you perceive to be the rationale behind the incompetence and chaos? What should be the UK's response to the shit storm that's ensuing?
