  1. Soup, for me. The smooth blended type. A winter favourite. I've sometimes been tempted into adding some kind of croutons on top. It's never as good as anticipated. The mouth doesn't when whether to chew or just swallow.
  2. Good food is always about contrasts, between tastes and textures. I'm a Marmite fan, no question. I actually think the optimal way to consume it is in a boring, plain white bread sandwich. The bland stodge is the perfect foil for the strong salty/tangy/umami. Never tried the crunch of lettuce. I imagine cucumber would also work.
  3. Been going past this tree for years, finally stopped to take a photo. I'm always a little surprised to see it's still standing. I'd be interested to see the root structure underneath.
  4. Inappropriate. I know almost anything goes on this thread, but there's a line, however distant it seems at times. Trying to make political capital from a tragedy like this, so quickly, crosses that line in my opinion. Very poor judgement Dave.
  5. Those Damsons look superb. Have you noticed the apples being earlier than normal this year? Ours are way ahead I'm sure. If they continue to grow at this rate they'll be football sized by autumn. It was a good year for Gooseberries here, they've just finished. And Boysenberries. Blueberries are off the scale. We're picking a bowl like this every few days now. All from just three plants. Cucumbers, Toms and Chillies are just starting to kick on in the greenhouses. No Bitter Gourds as yet though. All the berries must have loved the wet first half of the year.
  6. Yeah, I reckon pictures ought to be mandatory for any post on this thread.
  7. Wordle 1,136 3/6 ⬜🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟨🟩🟨🟩⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 As it said.......
  8. Covid Labour Net Zero, renewable energy SNP Nicola Sturgeon Immigrants Tax Tony Blair Vaccines Muslims Gun control Trans gender issues In no particular order, and I'm sure there's a few more. Before your get angry - you asked a genuine question, there's a genuine answer. I'm just subbing in for Mark J, he deserves a rest.
  9. A brace of Hungarians. And an interesting County conversion. 1km of cable on the winch! Ex BT machine.

  11. Where'd you get it, a Polish shop?
  12. It was quite a few years ago now but from what I remember it was a solid piece of fat. You had to cut chunks off with a knife. A bit like Pancetta but without the meat.
  13. Watered down PVC. Followed by PVC. But to be fair, anything would do to help, such as emulsion or gloss.
  14. They need higher sides. The Sunblest trays.

  16. To my mind this is all fairly straightforward. We did have a senile old man versus a senile old narcissist/sociopath/liar/creator of "alternative facts"/misogynist/xenophobe/racist...... We now have a rational 60 y/o black/Gujarati woman versus a senile old narcissist/sociopath/liar/creator of "alternative facts"/misogynist/xenophobe/racist...... Experience based on "discussion ", as seen on this thread recently, shows that there's no point in further elaboration. Reasoned debate is futile. But maybe my mind is just clouded by too many ciders this evening.
  17. Umm, I'm liking the sound of that. Your arteries would probably prefer that you lived somewhere with a Polish winter climate though I guess. In the mountains in Transylvania they eat something that is basically pig fat in the winter. It's surprisingly tasty, with PΓ‘linka, the regional plum brandy.
  18. Campari? You old lush! Alfalfa and Rye Grass are a couple more green manures, or cover crops. Get yourself a couple packets of something like this and chuck it around. Cover Crop LIVINGSOILSFERTILISER.COM We have created what we think is the ultimate cover crop seed blend; ideal for purchasing alongside our pre mixed soils...
  19. I take it you realized it was that other P word I meant, not meaning to cast aspersions. Don't know much about chickens I'm afraid. Aside from feeding them I'd just go round the nurseries/garden centers and see what they've got left still. Hopefully some tomatoes, cucumbers, chilies, maybe some winter cabbages.
  20. Thoughts on who sabotaged the railways just before it kicked off? Russia? Ultra-lefties aided and abetted by Russia? Got lots of fingers in lots of pies and long arms has old Putin. Allegedly.
  21. What are you planning to actually garden? Don't worry, there's only a few weeks of prevarication left and then it'll be the of the season anyway, (for sowing stuff). Then you can relax again for 6 months. You could probably still buy some veg plants, to save a fair bit of time.

  23. Can anyone provide a convincing argument as to why Trumpism is anything other than a cult?
  24. Wordle 1,132 4/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜🟨🟨🟨⬜ 🟨🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Seems like there's been an O in the word every day this week so far.
