    Bind weed

I dunno, it's a pernicious weed for sure, in the premier league of such things, but there's worse. At least the roots are fairly shallow and easily spotted, being bright white and nice and fat. Similar for Couch Grass. Mare's Tail, Knotweed or Bamboo are much more troublesome wrt to digging the roots out. (Mare's Tail goes down meters, and breaks off when you so much as look at it. Speaking from experience). I reckon that if you've got a blank canvass, ie. no established plants to work around, then digging Bindweed out is doable. If you're prepared to be meticulous in grabbing up every last little bit of root. And revisiting the subsequent year or two. Again, speaking from experience in my own garden.
  2. What on earth? Is that why this is the last time it's going to be in the Olympics?
  3. Mate, gotta pull you up on one point there, you've gone too far this time. There's naught wrong with cyclists! Give yourself a shake. πŸ˜‰
  4. Wordle 1,149 5/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜🟨⬜🟨🟩 🟩⬜🟩🟩🟩 🟩⬜🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Jam first or cream first? That's the only question.

Digging! Lots and lots of it.
  6. Luckily you. I really miss the sea, having grown up with it within quite easy reach, north and south coasts. It's the worst thing about living in the Midlands, you can't get much further away from the coast! My wetsuit lies in a bag in the loft, neglected but not yet forgotten. Easy garden day at home here. Just me and the lad as she's out for the day. I'm enjoying this hot but sub 30 degree temperature. 25 is about ideal for me.
  7. Being a good person was one of the founding principles of all religions I thought. Strangely all the organised religions seem to have forgotten that fundamental bit.
  8. Others might call it counter-brainwashing. If it's teaching kids to think critically and question sources of info and data then it can only be good surely. We'd have to be living in a properly fcked up state for the state to use it as a means of pushing an agenda. The idea is the antithesis of that. That's North Korea territory, no other country can even get close to achieving it. There's nothing wrong with advising against trusting screen shots, and stories without evidence, opinion passed off as fact etc etc. That's how mis/disinformation and Conspiracy Theories are hatched and incubated after all. There's a grown up or two who'd do well to stop relying on screen shots from LinkedIn and X for instance. We're seeing plenty of radicalisation of middle to late aged men.
  9. Interesting question. On a slight tangent. I think religious beliefs are sometimes claimed as justification for racist opinions. I'm sure I've seen instances of it on here anyway, "oh but Britain is a Christian country, therefore we can't possibly have Muslims here". Christianity and Islam being the two most hostile of all organised religions towards others.
  10. Wordle 1,148 2/6 ⬜⬜🟩🟩⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Nice.
  11. Nevermind, the more you have the cleaner the glass will become.
  12. Pork rib and green bean stew here this evening, with some extravagant beers.
  13. Heathen! Wine is wine though at the end of the day, regardless of how it's served. That chicken looks like it was gonna be good.
  14. This evenings tipple. This is about the upper limit of a beer for me. It's nice, but sod all Earl Grey that I can detect.
  15. And there lies the inconvenient truth. Normally overlooked. I'll stand to be corrected on this, if anyone fancies digging some numbers out, but I'd hazard a guess that the old vast majority ve of Those Muslims in the UK, doing all the crime, peterfiling and benefit grabbing are actually second or third generation. Their parents and grandparents having entered the country legally, and probably even been invited by the Great British Government. Just my hunch though, I'd be interested to see some figures if anyone can be bothered.
  16. I agree with that last sentiment at least. <<Generalisation alert!>> In my experience Africans, (indigenous at least), are the most polite, helpful, kind, generous, sociable of all people. Indians similarly, plus hardworking. In terms of hardworking, no nationality/race outperforms the Chinese, but they work too hard.
  17. That's always part and parcel of his efforts I think.
  18. Thoughts on Banksy's latest theme. Any speculations here? What's he on about; the far right riots, Israel/Gaza, the environment or just simply a lover of animals? What's behind Banksy's urban jungle? WWW.BBC.CO.UK Banksy has unveiled a new animal artwork every day in London - but does anyone know what they mean?

  20. She must be the greatest ever advert for NOT having cosmetic surgery.
  21. I'd love to but they're not what they once were now. I think they're mainly just a sales showroom, maybe with some assembly of foreign made components. Not heavy engineering like they used to be.
