  1. I price over the phone all the time. Minimum cost £100 - maximum £1,000000 not really. The only jobs you can really price over the phone is large contract day rate jobs. Isn't it?
  2. Well we are all a bunch of posers after all.
  3. How long is this comp going on for as I'm currently out of the saddle?
  4. Put a silly price in to avoid headaches. Not heard anything. Neh mind.
  5. No idea mate. Just heard someone use it as a homosexual inuendo a while back.
  6. Yeah. That's exactly my thinking. When I first set out I did grass cutting, weeding, fencing, turfing, everything but then tree work took over and I got some advise suggesting to me that I would never be taken seiously if I didn't only do trees. Work is a bit slack at the moment and after having an operation stopping me from doing any climbing for a few weeks I was wondering if some new flyers might be an idea including grounds maintenance, I am more than equipped with mowers and strimmers etc to handle any outside work.
  7. Offering other service such as fencing and or grounds maintenance etc seems to be somewhat frowned upon by some other tree workers. What do you guys think? I know some companies such as Beechwood Trees and Landscapes have the ability to overcome this by having seperate gangs but what do you think about someone offering the full package doing large dismantles and reductions etc one day and then pushing a lawnmower next? I believe the public perception wouldn't be a bad one and I feel the only negative comments or views would come from other tree workers. There may be the old "good tree surgeons don't need to offer other services", which would be fair in my opinion if the company had been around 10 years or more, but for new start ups is this a viable option or do you think you would come across as being unprofessional or not as good? Discuss.
  8. Yeah. Really useful machines. Can manouvre them by hand yourself aswell.
  9. Your best bet would be to pursue Johnny direct mate. Show your interest. PM him with your details. He is a sound bloke. Good luck.
  10. :lol:I think we should all give Mr Collins his dues. I mean, for him to work out the newfangled technology that is a cheapo disposable camera and then send the film off to kodak in the 7day return envelope and then be able to scan it in, resize it, rotate it and upload it on here. That deserves a round of applause.
  11. Yup. Online flyer is on it's way. Keep watching this space. Date on flyer will be negotiable if an overwhelming majority say that they can't make it. Are you getting excited Nigel?
  12. A very good point. That is just a discription of a self employed person. With a few extra rules. Haha.

  14. So have I got the job then? When will we find out.
  15. Better than you southerners attempt at camping when it all ends up like a scene from brokeback mountain. Woofters.
  16. I'll be sorry when I tell the wife.
  17. That's easy a piece of string is twice the distance from the beggining to the end! Haha
  18. Is this hardwood in certain sizes? Or just two big pieces of different species?
  19. Yeah for one week. After that I am supposed to pick and choose jobs that are easier on lifting and bending.
  20. Could try telling that to the tax man? Turns out my lifestyle and sickness insurance cover doesn't kick in until I have been off work for 2 whole weeks. Can only get hospital to sign me off for 1week even doing manual labour jobs. They say there must be something I can do that doesn't involve lifting or climbing. Kids need food.
  21. You prefer lads from the south? Wooly woofter.

  24. Do we get a company car or 4x4? Do you supply digs? If so, I'm moving to Scotland.
  25. Probably just a daytime venue I think for now.
