  1. Frank

    New chip box.

What a complete waste of time Tommer. It looked better with ply boards and was lighter. You tart. Haha only joshing ya. Top job. Love it when a plan comes together and good on ya for salvaging the materials. Spot bloody on.
  2. Maybe it was a really clever business minded chap who told the farmer that it would require pruning a few branches at regular intervals over the next 2 years for the tree to stand a chance of regenerating. £450 per day every 3 months for next 2 years. Haha. Then when the tree has been fully de-limbed and at a massive cost but still not regenerated, they can go back and disc it up for firewood. Haha
  3. erm.......... Whatever he does I think someone else will have to set it up?
  4. Imagine if the farmer now claims that the pruning has killed his tree. Haha.
  5. Best be would probably to get some sort of 3-1 system with pulleys so as to lessen the load by a huge amount. Could also use a sort of belay system as a self hoist. Is the high seat situated in a tree or on a platform?
  6. Anyone going from oop north on Saturday that wants to car share?
  7. Do you deliver eggs and orange juice aswell as milk? Haha. Only joking. Looks a well thought out work horse. Like the no mobile number point. What about web/email address?
  8. Have any of you lot actually ever kissed a girl? Only joking. Top notch that lot. Love the idea of Andy and Charlieh subcontracting in a model forest on weekends. Priceless.
  9. WTF is a little peak gonna do in the event of a kickback? Haha:001_tt2:Tickled me did that one.
  10. Eucalytpus and/or Hybrid poplar, highly reccomended. What do I win?
  11. It's a theme park where they have rollercoasters and other rides. A bit like a funfair on steroids. You won't enjoy it. Haha
  12. That's sweet Tony. Pretty much what I'm looking at building. My old zaskar was he chrome coloured frame and had rock shox forks. It was awesome. Miss that bike I do.
  13. Yeah that was probs the one I was looking at. Very nice looking bike. I've decided to go with a hardtail and just customise the arse out of it to make it light as poss. Think I will be mainly riding on road for now. Anymore pictures of your rides guys? I'll put pics of mine up as and when I get the project started.
  14. Cheers for the offer mate. Looks a nice place. Not sure if I'm willing to organise a climbing fun day over in Leeds on the off chance that they "might have some larger trees over there". Haha I'm after 1 or 2 large broadleaf trees. Between 50 and 100 ft tall wide spread, multiple stems, London plane, oak, beech etc etc. Think I have found just the spot but I'm tryin to organise other "activities" / "entertainment" aswell before I commit to a date. Like I said, if anyone wants to sort out a quick and easy lark in the woods then feel free.
  15. Yeah just crack on and do it yourself much the same as a mountain bike tyre but smaller, wider and more swearing. Ten minutes tops. Carefully with the screwdriver though, those flatheads are sharp haha
  16. but how can this actually happen? You might not do 2 RAs and might not refer to 2 different insurance policies on each job but my point is this:say for instance someone freelances to 5 different companies local to him, theses companies have all the neccessary insurances. He works for them as a climber on big jobs. He owns his own climbing and rigging kit and saws. He does 2 days here 1 day there for each of the 5 companies and charges a set day rate for the work he does. He has a company name and a business account to sort his tax return out at the end of the year. When his mates birds sisters aunties friend wants him to give her a price to deadwood her large beech tree, he needs his own insurance. When he wants to go and trim that huge leylandii hedge and Johnno from down the road is gonna help him out for the day, he needs his own insurance. It would be far too easy for him to just work off everyone elses insurance and then not worry about it for the odd little job but then he would be working illegally. That was my point.
  17. No it doesn't help at all. Haha. To subcontract, someone has got the contract and the subbies go do the work, they earn their money and the contractor earns his for very little effort. Freelancers work for multiple companies providing their own labour and or equipment. I think haha
  18. Sorry Rupe but, how is that Franks bit? Someone else said that, it was nothing to do with me mate. Haha. I just said I thought you needed to be insured to go work for someone else freelance style. Didn't realise it wasn't a legal obligation.
  19. Anyone have any experience of Litespeed frames?
  20. I had a 98 zaskar. Bought new in 98. Built it up with maguiers hydraulic brakes before they were popular. It was the ultimate dirt bike and made the bmx fairies salivate. One day when I came out from the shop, she wasn't were I parked her. Never did see her again.
  21. Yeah they need their own PL but a contractor needs EL to subcontract???? I think. Haha.
  22. No but one day I could be cutting a hedge on my own. One day I could be splitting logs. One day I could be smashing down a sycamore with my climber mate helping me out. One day I could be dismantling a big beech with a crane for another company. I can't just get single day cover for as and when I need it so I just get job lot.
  23. Is nobody listening to Steve? Haha. How long is this comp going on for cos I'm back climbing 2moro for a warm up?
  24. Date will be coming shortly. Keep your trousers on. If I wanted to organise a few guys meeting up in a wood to chuck some ropes up in a tree and stand round drinking tea all day it wouldve been done by now. I've got bigger plans for this one if someone wanted to organise a slightly lesser event, more on par with them suverners then feel free. I'll come.
  25. I have pl and el even though I'm a one man band bad ass freelance subcontracting hooligan. Covers all corners.
