  1. Why would you play hide-n-seek when you are meant to be working?
  2. Interesting thread Mike. Sor of backs up what I was trying to get to about aprentiships. The NPTC tickets IMO are designed as a provisional ticket to show you basics in a week. To prove you are physically and mentally competent to learn the trade in a safe manner. They are not IMO designed for someone to whizz through them and call themselves an arborist. 15 years ago I was 13 and thought I was gonna be a pro motorx rider.
  3. Ooooh I hope so. I've got soo many photos saved up and some videos on how to fell a tree and how to reverse a backleaner. Can't wait for this thread. Battlemyhinge.com.
  4. Cheers Nige. Will look into that.
  5. That's quite possibly the first and maybe last time you have ever referred to me as quick.

  9. No. It happened a while back. Weren't you invited? Sorry was a top secret do in the end with only a select few present. It was amazing. Can't wait for the next one..... Ooops, said too much haha I've been busy alright. What with chopping trees down left right and centre. I'm organising the get-together for mid-September. South of the Humber bridge. Come if you want.
  10. Can we buy mint cake?

    Ax men!

Have you ever been to the UK and seen first hand what most of us do? Haha. Some of us use secatuers and loppers. Some of us do coronet cuts and fracture pruning. Very few of us use skylines and skidders and yarders etc. Most of us very rarely get to drag out the 088. I'm moving to America. I want to be underwhelmed by it all. J.M.Browning aren't hiring at the moment. I'll try Rygaard. Haha

    Ax men!

Ok. So the swamp logger is my new hero. Where on earth did they find him. Oh yeah, down on the bayou. Haha
  15. How big is a wagon and drag? You can pretty much get any road going vehicle down. Bottom of the lane is a field / meadow though. Plenty of turn around space but will be on grassland. Wouldn't want anything to get stuck.
  16. We have approx 20tonnes of timber to move from site to yard. 15 mile round trip. Site access is slightly narrow but a tractor with timber trailer or similar would fit. Can anyone help. P.m me with details of rates etc. Days work for someone with the right kit. Bacon butties could be arranged.
  17. If you are already getting work from other people and your own advertising then it is a legal obligation in this country to declare your earnings. I.e register as self employed.
  18. That's a cracking piece of work Deano. Very nice. Satisfying?
  19. Would be a great idea to put area you are in on the thread title mate. Good luck. Sure someone will be around those parts.
  20. The vat threshold is £67k is it not? You don't just start charging vat because your self employed.

    Beach Rollys

Yeah. Woodland work was what I was thinking. Plus comps next year and stuff. Not seen one in the flesh so to speak, really wanted to see what would fit in. I like the idea of napping in it and eating lunch.
  22. Ill have some, PM me with details and we can sort out that Splicing day shortly.
  23. Haha. I know the feeling. "Let it run" you shout, "Let it what?" they shout back. "argh stuff it, give it 2 wraps" hahaha:lol:
  24. you dont have to wear gloves using a chainsaw from rope and harness.in fact its nigh on impossible to climb in chainsaw gloves:thumbup1:
