  1. 9and a half out of 10. Only for the fact your saw dug in slightly on back cut at about 12oclock. Haha. Very nice

    Nitro Circus!!!

That was it. Thought it was a backflip but has been a long while since I saw it. Amazing. Love the guy who shouts "you can go twice as fast" haha
  3. Are you sure the stihl didn't have as much torque? Or did it just not rev it's knackers off. Haha
  4. The stihl 460 is an awesome saw from 16" bar upto 25" bar. It will be my next purchase. More grunt than the 441. I like the way that as soon as you mentioned Husqvarna, jonesies mentioned buying spare parts. Hahaha
  5. So fo saw logs would I be better putting my gob upside down as it were?

Please tell me you can find a clip of the large chap doing a backflip on a superbike into a foam pit at travis pastranas house. He overshoots it and lands flat on his back. Awesome but kinda scary.
  7. That oak looks cracking Rich but we need to see the stump to give marks.
  8. I said marks out of ten not a lesson in tree felling Johnny. Got a tasty barbers chair photo for later on
  9. Come on lets see you hinges. Weve had the Lunge Thread and the Stuntfell thread, now heres a thread for the best (or worst) hinges. Post a picture and we can all give it marks out of ten. If it needs an explenation, then give it one as it may affect your score. Even the bad ones can get rated, so dont feel shy about posting:lol: Mr Blair. Ill go first. 70ft ash, in dense woodland, very straight pole, normal felling cut using only wind advantage, no wedges or felling bar. easy one to begin with. Please rate my hinge.
  10. Ridiculous.
  11. Yeah I'd like to just add, only do this if the tree is literally a fairly immediate danger, like with a big split, tearing open or something.
  12. Knock on door, explain what you have seen, tell them you don't want to alarm or worry them, then say you are really busy and must dash but mention they could get a second or third opinion for free by ringing any other companies up. Offer them a business card to give you a shout if they were interested in any other advice etc. Then walk away. Acting all busy and important.
  13. I've never even heard of an anchor bridge replacement bridge. Got any pictures.
  14. I like the log cabin, grizzly Adams and the rocky mountains bit but I'd rather go hunting deer than lay around in a hot tub. Plus Melvin would be working me too hard to be messing around like that.
  15. I think I need to spend a few more years in the woods.
  16. My honest ideal place to work would be in Oregon on a steep slope, hook tending for Melvin Lardy. I dream of that job.
  17. Yeah. Me too. Where do I find this guy?
  18. So..... A climber who can see what needs to be done, gets his gear on, gets up the tree and does it as quickly and safely as possible would be a good climber? A guy who sees the actual climbing as just something that needs to doing to access the wood and not something special that sets them apart from other cogs in the machine.
  19. What makes a good climber? Or what would make one climber better than another? Speed? Attitude? Safety?
  20. Now there's a good idea. Think it would only really work in larger companies though. I.e: 4 or more employees. I think Bobs idea was also a really good one whereby you do an advanced type course every year (or x amount of years) and you earn points or something similar until you earn "master arborist" status. like the ISA scheme.
  21. That's alright. Try harder next time though haha. I'm a simple tree cutter and need everything explaining in as plain text as possible lol.
  22. Yeah, but that has nothing to do with what you said. Haha not having a go. Just seemed to me that you implied that having NPTC chainsaw operations certs make you an arborist? It makes you a tree cutter. Lol
  23. So what did you mean? Haha
  24. Nptc's do NOT qualify you as anything.
  25. Ms460 on a 20" bar. Mmmmmmmmmm.
