  4. Nice of him to let you know.
  5. You guys with your simple ideas of better ways to get the tree down are missing out on the bigger picture. Doing something that way would not make a very good video, it wouldnt get noticed, it wouldnt get slated, it wouldnt get 12 pages of comments, Dadio wouldnt be the name on everyones lips. Daniel Murphys youtube page wouldnt be getting the hits it gets. Sometimes the simplest and safest way to do things just doesnt make good telly.
  6. Since when did buying something cost nothing?? you plonker.
  7. Been thinking about this idea for a long while now and I think this would an ideal scenario to test it out on. Imagine If there was a piece of computer software available that you could upload an image of a tree onto and then specify the job spec i.e 15% all over reduction etc, then the software would bring up a digitally enhanced image of the tree as it could be after works. Showing the customer exactly how their tree would look with a sypathetic reduction rather than a lopping or topping. You could turn up at the customers house in a posh 4x4 wearing smart shirt and jeans, take a photo of the tree from different angles, then go inside for a cup of tea with your laptop, upload the image, then produce the "after" shot on the screen plus a portfolio of other works you have done. After all this the customer will be thinking "this is going to be expensive", then when you say £375+vat. It all seems good value. Then when the other guy turns up 2 days late in a clapped out transit looking like hes been dragged through a conifer hedge backwards, and states "where do you want it lopping". Suddenly his quote of £140 seems plain ridiculous and she will just want rid off him as quick as possible to ring you straight back and get you round again to do the works. Sound good??? Then you could turn up to do the works in a clapped out transit, looking like you have been dragged through a conifer hedge backwards and say " where did we say we was gonna lop it". hahahahahaha
  8. Bloody hell tractor boy, bit much aint it.
  9. Could be arranged, shall I do a lunge and park the truck next to a stuntfell??
  10. On a serious note, the best way depends on what volume you are wanting to deliver. For me the best way would be a 7.5 tonne truck with HIAB that could deliver 3/4 cubic metre bags. I dont have one of them though.
  11. Im suspicious as to why you want a picture of my truck??? Do I need to be in the picture aswell???
  12. A Stein Arbor trolley.

    Socks

Best pair of socks I have ever owned were actually Royal navy fire department specials. Flame retardent, warm and comfy as my slippers. A bit like totes toasties but for work. Cant get them anymore though as they have changed the locks.
  14. Exactly. Or you could be honest and explain that they are getting an absolute bargain because you have another job that will fill in the day, make them feel lucky. Then say, "when you tell all your friends about how great I am, don't tell them how stupidly cheap I was". Haha Or just walk away. £180 minimum call out. Send them a bill for £45 for the quote. Haha.
  15. yeah, sorry mate. I didnt really mean "upset". You know? It probably cant be done for profit, for £140 but if you think it could be done in half a day and have another DECENT priced couple of hours job and a log delivery in the evening you could do say £600 that day, surely that would be enough to pay the helper and fuel the saws / chipper???? Thats what I meant by making it possible to do it for £140.
  16. Are you telling me that AXmen isnt real?? I have applied for a job with Rygaard Logging.
  17. Surely if it is worth getting upset or "gobsmacked" about then it is worth finding a way to be able to do it for £140. Impossible??? Well, dont get upset about it, you put your price in, end of. If they ring you again, treble the price.
  18. Cliff???
  19. No, I tried to explain, i went to price some more work for this customer after working there in 07 / 08. These were what I found on and around the stumps from previous work. They have a fair few trees that appear to be in a state of decline. They do however want the chips and logs for habitat piles and 2 stems leaving for flight paths for batty wats.
  20. I would love some sort of idents on all picture sets. Pretty please.
  21. Picture set 5. This was another dead sycamore taken down after floods of 2007.
  22. Picture set 4. This was found near the base of another sycamore which we will be taking down shortly. Could it have anything to do with lack of leaf coverage this year??
  23. Picture set 3. These were found near to the stump of a dead sycamore we took down about 3 years ago, Could they have anything to do with the demise of said tree??? They were actually alot more yellowish in the flesh.
  24. Photo set 2. These were both found on an old stump which we left about 2 years ago.
  25. I need some idents on these I found today whilst quoting a job, customer thought I was mad when i got all excited and running off down the garden. I promised I would get some sort of ident from you guys and report back. Oh and they will be entries into the competition aswell. So judge away. Dont be too harsh as they were taken with my iphone in a rush (you see how badly I need a decent camera) Oh, got the job by the way. Picture set 1:
