  1. If it aint Oak, it must be Russian Oak.
  2. Mikes just made this the best thread ever. Haha.
  3. Have you tried using the search feature at the top. I would but i cant be bothered.
  4. That doesnt sound very fair on the customer.
  5. Rise? What rise? Has there been a rise? When was this rise? Haha.

    Saw Pod

Funny how everyone goes on about the ease of the sawpod yet I dont recall seeing many folks using them in the ITCC's. Surely if they were easier and more convienient then the guys at the top of the tree climbing competition game would be using them??? Maybe wrong.

Thought you might like that Mick. You back from the gym already???
  9. I thought the "secret weapon" was a pole saw. Haha.

I dont like them. Great idea, great product. I just cant get on with it. Feels un-natural to me. I would prefer a scabbard attached to my back like a Mutant Ninja Turtle. Haha.
  11. I have no idea what that means but im sure its a good idea.
  12. Id like to investigate further-more into the events as they unfolded. Rather than the potential weakening of equipment that may or may not have happened as a result. How exactly does one drop a karabiner??? Or anything else for that matter. Talk us through these events so we can build up a better picture then we could all laugh at you for being clumsy. Haha.
  13. Says "wench attached". Sounds good if its true.
  14. £90 a cube. Mixed. Mostly hardwood. £120 a cube. 100% ash.
  15. Wheres Cadwallender ???
  16. Yeah, i guess you would need to key it in somehow. Use a decent plastic primer. Maybe even some laquer after the paint. Were you thinking of Painting them pink???
  17. Fell them?? I was gonna rig them. Shock loading in massive sections. Just for giggles.
  18. Obviously a different scenario to the one I was thinking of then. No probs. Sounded similar to a situation i was aware of but now you have said that, it is clear we are talking of completely seperate matters.
  19. Ok fair point. Would be wrong to talk about someone on the internet. Especially if any of the FACTS were to be wrong. We would all look silly and childish. Sorry to derail. Back to the thread. Best bet would be to speak to an accountant and get their view on the pros and cons. Going VAT registered could be a massive bonus or a PITA. Depends on your circumstances. Each company is different so a professionals advice would be far more beneficial than other people in different situations. It is nice to hear the different opinions though.
  20. That hasnt helped, but thanks anyway. I'll rephrase the question. Dont care about the name apart from for my own educational purposes. More asking about possible defects to structural integrity of timber. Cheers my dears.
  21. Really??? Who was this then???? Sounds familiar but the story has got twisted. Care to enlighten us??
  22. Got these 2 Beech to takedown shortly. Wanted a positive ID on the fungus and any advice on the detremental effect on the structural integrity (if any). Obvious signs of previous fire damage, but whats the fungus and what is it doing to the wood. The part of the timber that looks soft and spongey is actually rock hard like coral. Thanks in advance. Sorry for picture quality. (Iphone on a bright morning.)
  23. Sounds like Deja-Vu. haha

Lets face it you could have 8 old LDV and chippers on the road, a full office manned 24hours a day. Full time workshop staff maintaining your kit, 26 members of staff etc etc. The customer doesnt know that. He wants to know how much it will be and when you can do it. Dressing smart and uniformly helps, as does a well presented vehicle. Wether it is a 1992 sherpa or a 2010 Iveco has nothing to do with justification of costs.

Having brand new kit/vehicles should make your company run smoother with less breakages and such. It shouldnt be a justification for expense. Have you ever turned up to a job you quoted £550 for and had the customer turn round and say " i feel ripped off, when i recieved your quote I was expecting you to turn up in a brand new truck wearing a Gucci watch"
