  1. I was sort of semi-pro. Had 3 sponsorshio deal and travelled the country doing competitions. 3 main sections in DVD's and 2 front cover and interviews in magazines. I have signed autographs for the kids. All this before my 20th birthday.
  2. Nah, them potholes were already there. You aimed for them so as to avoid any further damage. Haha.
  3. I meant you did have style and grace. Thats how I knew it wasnt Rich haha.
  4. Can we have a left to right naming and shaming on that photo?? Please. I can see 2 I know and 1 im going to guess at. Edit: just spotted Nick Waring in the background.
  5. Please note. No tarmac was harmed in the making of that video. Haha. Good work guys as always.
  6. Ok. But its a one off. Nice to see some invention. We should all try and come up with a new knot. Doesnt have to be a friction hitch. I bet its nearly impossible.
  7. It has just been brought to my attention that you have started this thread with the sole intention of trying to pass one of my fine knot creations off as your own handy work. This is unacceptable. There are certain copywrite issues that have been infringed by your good self. I do hope this matter can be resolved outside of the courtroom. I would like to ask for a bribe of 14 Large Danish pastrys to stop me taking further action. If i die whilst trying out your new knot, I will come back and haunt you by covering every tree you will have to climb in Ivy.
  8. Dont think there is alot of money in knot creation. Haha. Anyways, you have just posted clear pictures of it on the internet, I have now stolen the knot, photographed my creation for copywrite purposes and am now in talks with certain companies about a CE climbing kit using this knot specifically designed for wet days, its kinda like the facebook theft of the knot world. Sorry. It is now the Grumble Hitch. Haha.
  9. Are you sure they were both Acer Psuedoplatanus??
  10. Ahhh thought he looked to have a bit of style and grace. Haha.
  11. Look a good day. Any more pictures? Names to faces? Whos the guy in the vid? Is it Richy Rich the ruler.
  12. Neither do I. I dont see the point in paying for any cord full stop. Luckily I have good friends and work associates.
  13. The OP eye2eye 8mm I have on my yale blaze is awesome. I love it. It did take a while though to get it "set in". I find you dont have to even thinking about tending to it ever. Much the same as the Roblon and the sirius but I dont have eyes on them so they dont look as neat.
  14. Not really bothered about photos, just thought if i hadnt heard of the cord it would be cool to see it to check the colour coordination, because it matters. Haha.
  15. Cheers you lot. Got some roblon and sirius in 8mm. Will give them a go. Anyone had any experience of 8mm Ocean Poly?? Im past being bothered trying loads of different setups. Just want to get it right first time.
  16. Tommer you should have said something like Alder or similar that would have been harder to get hold of. Haha.
  17. As the title says. I would be interested to hear about your favourite hitch cord for using with Poison Ivy rope using a V.T w/hitchclimber combo. Thanks. Pics would be cool.
  18. Tommer Will know. Im gonna say......... Alder. Dont know why.
  19. I think its a win win system for all involved. Good on you for helping the lad be able to finish his placement. Would be a major flaw in apprenticeships if something like that was to happen.
  20. A fair point. However, a little bit more public awareness raising and a couple more watchdog programmes on tv etc and we may be asked to provide insurance details far more frequently.
  21. Same position here mate. Apprentice started in january at askham bryan college. 1week in month at college. Slowly easing into the industry. First week at college was cs30 and woodchipper tickets. Even advised to use semi-chisel chain whilst gaining saw awareness.
  22. There is a lot of grey areas within the industry as a whole. Not just on the training side. After all, anyone can chop a tree down. Haha.
  23. A video like that does make the job look fairly glamorous doesnt it. Hardly hawthorn reductions in the rain is it. Haha.
  24. I know what you mean. Not necessarily the case though. As with the apprenticeship scheme, you would still gain your NPTC certs along the way. It would just stop you doing cs30-31 cs38-39 and starting up your own company. Calling your self a tree surgeon.
  25. Haha. Thats the scene I was imagining. (without the spartans of course).
