  1. I had no idea they could deal with such thick timber - amazing machines! Can’t see one of these lasting very long if worked hard though (or am I being cynical?).
  2. Kind of my thoughts too tbh. Just realised the op references a storm that took place in February - this has been dragging on a good while. I’d imagine there is quite a bit more to the story than we know about. Ownership of the track/its use etc has been contentious I reckon!...
  3. How heavy is it? Pallet trucks can (by design) lift full pallets, and tail lifts can lift/lower them. Pallets are regularly 1 tonne - is the mill heavier than this?!
  4. When was this? Where are the leaves? Is everything dead or has this issue been dragging on for a few months?
  5. If you have a barn that big for free I reckon you could make easier money out of it subdividing it for storage...
  6. Plenty of targets, adding a MEWP in the mix can make the job harder IME (especially one that isn’t big enough). Any reason it couldn’t be climbed?
  7. This is good advice. Flowfit 12 V DC Single Acting Hydraulic Power pack with 11L Tank ZZ010636 | Flowfit WWW.FLOWFITONLINE.COM "Flowfit 12VDC single acting hydraulic tipper powerpack, 11 litre reservoir c/w with 2... Flowfit 12v tipping pumps are cheap, but make sure you get one with a big enough reservoir to fill the ram. You’ll need 10l plus. Don’t forget if you are converting a trailer from manual to 12v tipping you’ll also need a battery and somewhere to mount it (or good leads and some form of connection to your tow vehicle - check out Anderson connectors). This does add cost obviously. Manual hydraulic tippers are very hard work, the novelty soon wears off. Spend a bit more and marvel at how powerful a 12v motor is!!!
  8. Gnarlyoak’s post made me smile - I’m guessing he wasn’t aware of your ‘prickly inquisitive forthright bugger’ persona! Keep up the good work - interesting post, I’m looking forward to seeing how it develops.
  9. To be fair, it’s not worth messing with the free ones, it feels like you are trying to get something for nothing. You can obviously buy as many as you like for £1 if you have the means to load them, which is incredible value really.
  10. Shopping trolleys are amazingly strong, only cost £1 each too!...
  11. All I know from personal experience is to avoid second hand Teupen at all costs - they are a minefield and the UK support is beyond terrible.
  12. I heard that the guard and the driver were two of the three who didn’t walk away.
  13. Both - he’s a ****************ing legend! It’s not just him though - they are all like it there. Really helpful across the board. I’ve been to the factory (for a tour and to pick up parts/get flywheels repaired etc) a few times and have only ever met incredibly helpful people!
  14. I don’t know of another machinery manufacturer who offer such amazing technical support as Greenmech - Jase has fixed several issues over the phone for me over the years. Brilliant company made up of brilliant people.
  15. They’ll lift it somehow if they have come equipped for that approach sadly. If they are intent on theft, and arrive with a hiab your only real hope is to make the chipper inaccessible/out of crane reach (and not drag-able). I would put the money you’d spend on a lift-eye towards other layers of security personally.
  16. You can’t carry a lot of chip/soil/roots or many rings in bolsters! And half a tonne extra on wheels behind a tractor is neither here nor there; the additional convenience/multi-purpose factor would far outweigh it.
  17. Is that gator crane reliant on the tipper body locking catch to prevent disaster?!...
  18. If it were my house I’d happily fell it - the house is old, the tree is (relatively) young, if soil expansion/contraction was going to be an issue you would have already experienced subsidence. However, I’ll be shot down for suggesting that as it will be doing a consultant out of some work. Pay an arboriculturalist to undertake a survey and give you recommendations. (They will tell you that you can fell it, sorry to spoil any surprises). If your house subsequently experiences heave following felling your insurers will do one of two things - 1 - If you’ve not had a survey they will pay to fix your house. 2 - If you’ve had a survey and you have followed the advice they will pay to fix your house (but might subsequently chase the surveyor for damages). Take your choice, spend your money as you see fit.
  19. Have you had tree related subsidence issues ever?
  20. I had one years ago with stress control, so it is doable. There was a little control box that pointed at a toothed wheel on the flywheel rotor shaft above and behind the engine I seem to recall.
  21. It could simply be the bolts sandwiching it together coming loose. I’d get it off and strip if apart - more than likely it is something easily (and obviously) repairable. Once in bits if there is anything you aren’t sure of, give flowfit a ring/send them some pics and they will be able to supply any individual components.
  22. Is the supplier helping you out at all? Not many of these out working in this country and you seem to have had more than your share of issues!
  23. Single bowline but out of the two separate ropes (one rope is your hole/tree, the other end is your rabbit). Not technically a sheet bend but very similar.
