  1. Or weld on some angle/flat/channel (whatever is to hand) and rivet the built-up ali planks to it. Really strong and fast. Slightly heavier than your suggestion though.
  2. Dunno why it won’t let me upload pics. I’ll try again tomorrow
  3. Don’t rule out a jack russell (or any other terrier for that matter, they are all ace!). This (in my massively biased opinion) is the single greatest creature that ever set foot on this planet! Boss of the world, receiver of admiration from strangers, icebreaking king, humper of everything (sex irrelevant), hunter of ‘eeee-eeee’s‘ (of any denomination/colour/hairyness),happy-to-be-smuggled-into-hotels-in-a-suitcase, learned to not shit in the house within weeks but still does whatever else he wants no-matter how loud you call/shout/plead at the age of 18, able to walk/run for seemingly ever, incredible with kids (and other domesticated animals within our herd) - my best mate.
  4. Very sad news, thoughts to all his family and friends. Stay safe and look after yourselves people, nobody knows what is around the corner x
  5. Yeah, I’d get the dog onto the top of your shelf into the top half of the canopy if entry/exit is feasible. Much better for ventilation etc and they can see out if the canopy has any windows.
  6. I’m going to guess the answer is sadly no - I think you’d have to sacrifice one lip of the ‘groove’ (and therefore write off that plank) to remove a top plank. Hopefully I’m wrong though.
  7. Is that how you roll in the valleys?!
  8. That budget is trawling the very bottom of the market tbh. I don’t think you’ll be able to be particularly brand-specific within your budget (not necessarily a bad thing though). You want something basic but in working order. Basic is good when trees are involved, so that’s not a bad thing!
  9. I’d be questioning it then. Unless anything has drastically changed since estimate then I’d want clarification of reasons for uplift in costs.
  10. If he’s already undertaken a BS5837 survey of the site then the ‘estimate’ should be accurate. It is largely a copy/paste job and is unlikely to actually take more than an hour or two - any issues with topos etc would have already arisen and been dealt with. If he’s been appointed to provide an AMS with no previous involvement in the project then it is perfectly feasible that the estimated time to produce the document could end up stretching. Reluctance from other consultants who believe they/their preferred tree-hugger etc are missing out on work could introduce unexpected delays and hurdles in getting hold of the necessary documentation to allow the AMS to be completed - no fault of the ‘arborist’ and no reason for them to work for nothing so their costs could conceivably rise from their initial estimated price. More context is required to give consideration to either side of the argument imo.
  11. So the guy charging double has done both the new BS5837 survey and the new AMS (and is charging double his estimate for the AMS), or just the new AMS?
  12. Why didn’t the initial surveyor sort the AMS?
  13. Does the splitter make the engine work at all or is it just ticking over?
  14. Magnificent! How did you connect drive to the pump? Any videos of it in action?
  15. When I bought my Bobcat I was also looking at Kubotas. I asked the salesman if they Cb oils supply me a 3 tonner badged as a 2.7 for exactly that reason. He refused!
  16. Might not be any other options when it comes to part exchanging - I’m not sure how much other dealers would offer as a trade in...
  17. Yes!!! Video of it throwing the arisings into next week please - it certainly does a bit of ‘broadcasting‘ at the end of the oak clip!!!
  18. I’m certainly no oil guru but have heard from someone with a lot more knowledge than me that the Rock Oil Groundsman oil is apparently very good/high spec, better than the stihl gear.
  19. Awesome looking setup! Not as fast as I hoped though, but very very kool!
  20. Red Stihl oil isn’t recommended for 4-mix engines as it carbons them up. We used to have issues but moved to the green oil and have been fine since.
  21. Don’t run them on the red Stihl oil either.
  22. You’re very defensive about how powerful your tools are - it’s frankly a meaningless and ridiculous thing to get your knickers in a twist over. This guy seems to know it flicks your switch and uses it against you (I’d imagine he keeps stating it to get you to try and prove him wrong and do the job quicker/cheaper). He is definitely smarter than you are - try and learn from this episode.
  23. This is the heavy counterweight on the E27 @doobin - I know it is as the original one didn’t stick out like this.
  24. Will do in the morning. Mine was already somewhere in the dealer network, not built to order (I wish it had of been for the time I ended up waiting for it though) so they nailed my options to it before delivery.
  25. I don’t think it is standard mate, mine came without and it took ages for the heavier counterweight I ordered it with to get to the dealer’s.
