  1. 285 60 R18 - they go straight on with no rubbing (even though I was told they wouldn’t fit by a couple of tyre places). I don’t think you could go any bigger without mods.
  2. Standard colour - I think it’s called Tekuma (or Decuma) grey possibly? I still need to powder coat the gypsy-chrome roll bar (that I didn’t even order, the dealer added it due to a cock-up at their end).
  3. That is a fact. The standard wheels are nice but definitely need pushing out a bit. Mine is on slightly oversized Bfg all terrains (285 I think).
  4. Yes and no - if the move had been booked well in advance and lorry movements planned around it, and then an 11th hour change of plan from the customer (which the haulier appears to have attempted to sort at very short notice) is thrown into the mix then I can see why they would want to charge for their standing time. I guess it all comes down to the initial quote request details.
  5. Stihl were demoing a new battery groundsaw at the APF - apparently it’s a total gamechanger/is the next big thing! Size and weight-wise it’s pitched at the Husky 560 market (though I personally thought it felt a lot heavier ‘in the hand’ - I’m not sure how the figures stack up). What a total joke of a machine - it was crap when compared to anything with an engine (which is how they were pitching it)!!! I felt embarrassed for the lads doing the demo in honesty. There are obviously certain applications where battery kit is advantageous (we own quite a bit of battery gear now) but you cannot get close to replacing the power and convenience of an engine and combi-can however much you try to green-wash your customers.
  6. How far ahead of your Tuesday lunchtime loading conversation had you instructed the transport?
  7. I’m really disappointed with husky battery kit tbh. A fast-charger failed having had minimal use (to their credit it was replaced although technically out of the warranty period) - I’ve not dared use its replacement as bought a bog-basic slow charger to keep us working on the advice of our dealer who reckons they don’t go wrong and that is still fine. Having invested in the batteries and charger I more recently bought a long-reach hedge cutter that has now shat it’s gearbox out of the side of the casing, having been out at work for a single-figure number of days doing light duty. I’ve not had time to get it into the dealer but Facebook gypo-Arbtalk tells me that this is a really common problem. It’s not an issue limited to Husky as a 2 year old top of the range Makita drill stopped working on me yesterday for no apparent reason, and that has also had a very easy life. We are now at the mercy of cheap components, non-serviceable parts and a throw-away approach to tools sadly. Warranty is now more important than ever. Toolstation, Screwfix, B&Q and Aldi/Lidl electrical gear is going to become the go-to for professionals as they will offer the easiest route for replacing crappy broken crap for more of the same (whatever colour plastic casing it has). IMO of course!
  8. I’d be very wary of tipping a little tractor over with a forestry winch. It’s not wheelies particularly, these winches will flip tractors over sideways if you aren’t careful (and compact tractors aren’t generally known for their stability).
  9. I’ve got a big Tajfun with radio control/powered out feed etc and it is very good. If they do something the right size I’m sure it would be a great bit of kit.
  10. Seriously - give up on the Logbullet idea. You’ve given it an incredible chance but sometimes you need to admit it isn’t the right machine for the job you are doing. You need something bigger by the sounds of it, this thing will bankrupt you.
  11. Stick it on here/on its own thread if you can please, I’d be very interested.
  12. Didn’t know you could get vaccinated for monkey pox?….
  13. A bit, especially when filled up with buckets/implements etc at the front… Doesn’t cause any issues on the Hilux or Cabstars, but is a bit cruel to jockey wheels if unhitching loaded!
  14. Like it’s made to measure (which I’d imagine it was, as there isn’t much point of a plant trailer of this size otherwise!). If the trailer is only to move a specific item of plant then a well-fitting plant trailer can’t be beaten (we have them sized correctly for tracked chippers and diggers). They are rubbish for other duties though. If you want something general purpose make sure you can take the sides off and have a flat-bed as a minimum requirement.
  15. The new Greenmech Evos are supposed to be brilliant (but I’ve no personal experience). I had a demo of the UFKES Greetec Cheetah (30/80 I think) which is a great tool if you want maximum capacity from something towable under 3.5 tonnes. It’s a nice small-site clearance machine, works very well as a digger fed machine but is still properly set up for hand feeding. Really really expensive though…….
  16. That would be a monster of a thing to get in anywhere, mega if you’ve got the space for it though!
  17. I’d agree with Bob - particularly if moving tractors with various implements attached. A plant trailer doesn’t allow any overhang in any direction and is a real ‘one-trick-pony’. I’ve got a 16 foot Bateson triaxle tilt bed which is brilliant. If you aren’t looking for the lowest possible deck height (I was, to allow 3pl implements to be loaded/unloaded from the side off the deck by the tractor itself) then I’d avoid the 10’’ wheel and tyre options offered by all the various manufacturers as they are a bit of a weak point IME.
  18. This will have gone out on prime-time when the F-word was never heard on telly…
  19. There is a bus load of us heading down from Cheshire (so we can have a few beers) on Friday. It’s even got a toilet apparently, which will be a lot better than the previous crossed-legs journeys home! I was contemplating driving down in a van and sleeping over to do Friday/Saturday but I remember the bus last time going in a different entrance and avoiding the massive queue into the show, which was good, so I’m not sure I can be bothered driving!
  20. Had exactly the same with UK Fuels - robbing bastards if you take your eye off the ball. I wouldn’t give them the steam off my piss ever again!
