  1. Today £87k plus vat, but new orders will be over £95k……..
  2. His drivetime show in the week is very good - ‘Mexican Handbags’ is hilarious IMO. Shame about the adverts though…
  3. To be honest Janey Lee Grace has always annoyed me, I think she’s a bit of a twat…. Love Steve though, and there has never been (and never will be) any better radio feature than ‘Ask Elvis’. FACT!!!
  4. It’s definitely an expensive toy but it chips faster than a 2.7 tonner can feed it… I’m not convinced by the crane-mounted jobby - this one can’t be crane mounted (and still remain under 3.5 tonnes) as it’s designed to give the most throughput so is a bigger drum-chipper than the lighter disk machine. This can be built on tracks or on a heavier chassis for truck/tractor towing (and you could have the biggest crane in the world then!).
  5. Yeah, I suppose chopping in a white male for another white male (that is gay) helps tick a box somehow. I can’t listen to Zoe Ball, she’s absolutely terrible IMO. Vernon Kaye has been on this week and he’s much better, but I tend to listen to Radio 4 until 9am (largely because of Zoe Ball!). No way can I listen to Scott Mills at any time of day, he only spouts childish crap…
  6. Had this on demo today - it’s a very good chipper under 3500kg to be fair! 400x600mm opening, can be crane or hand fed, radio controlled, 140hp etc etc. Good bit of kit, just working out man-maths now…
  7. I meant have you priced up these Case machines - interesting to see how they compare to other machines in the market as they are essentially a repainted Eurocomach. I’ve got a little Bobcat E27 (not the Z, it’s the more powerful version with a small tailswing) with extra counterweight and Rototilt and that weighs exactly 3 tonnes with the tilty and grab on. It’s good though, can shift a lot of timber in a day with it and it is amazingly stable and powerful for its size. This tilty is actually bigger than you’d need on this sized carrier though - you could save at least 100kg if you fitted the next size down.
  8. Apparently they are Eurocomach machines rebadged (which have a great reputation but are mega expensive) - have you priced anything up as will be interesting to see what sort of dosh they are? It’d want plenty of counterweight to make the most of it on a small machine IMO, probably no use on a zero. The 6 tonner looks a nice bit of kit!
  9. We do loads of this for customers I’m afraid to say… BS5837 was brought in to protect trees on construction sites (which it does once in play) but it has also inadvertently led to the felling of a great deal of decent tree stock, often for speculative reasons. It is worth taking a punt on the cost of legally clearing a site prior to submitting any sort of planning application to remove the risk of tree constraints impacting the chances of development.
  10. Planning law. It would essentially be the same as building a block of flats instead of the extension permission has been granted for. The trees are currently protected in the same way as if tpo’d until the building is completed and signed off. There’s nothing to prevent the tree report stipulating tree removal, and if accepted then that work can obviously be undertaken. However, it has to be accepted by the planners, so there would need to be good reason for removal (not just ‘They’re my trees and I can do what I like!). Be careful though - further protection can be implemented if the trees are deemed TPO worthy and there are indications that their future may be under threat…
  11. If you cut those trees down now without a report to fall back upon you will potentially be in contravention of your planning permission - I’d not personally recommend that as a course of action. The planners will have given consideration to the existing site ‘as-is’ when determining the application, including any screening provided by existing trees (hence their insistence on tree protection during the build). You will need to submit a suitable tree report, but it doesn’t necessarily need to be the one you already have to hand. Talk to the arboriculturalist and ask them to make the stipulations less onerous. Install necessary tree protection fencing (heras panels with home-printed and laminated signage are more than adequate) and keep out of those protected areas with all machinery/materials etc. Any excavations within the protective fencing should be under arboricultural supervision, but that’s up to you. You should be able to do what you want (within reason) outside the protection areas.
  12. Seems fair enough tbh - nothing too onerous there. Without the tree report it only gives a part of the picture but the protective measures shown appear reasonable IMO. (Don’t forget that this document has to be acceptable to the planners - cutting corners to save you a couple of quid won’t wash).
  13. The report isn’t, and can theoretically be altered. The LA are obviously aware of the trees though - they have mentioned them which makes them a condition. I’m sure removing anything at this stage without submitting a report first would end in tears. As previously mentioned - fell anything contentious before submitting anything to planning………
  14. It’s at your risk - if the method statement is provided to the LA then it is a condition of planning and you should follow it. If you excavate without on site supervision, don’t cause any damage and have detailed photographic evidence of the work undertaken then I think it unlikely you’d hear any more of it if no damage was caused (but this is not advice, just my thoughts…).
  15. Just seen that you haven’t yet submitted the report - talk to the arboriculturalist about your concerns and see what they can amend. Removing the distant trees may be unnecessary. Tree protection isn’t though - you won’t be able to dodge that one. In future, remove any contentious trees before submitting your planning application………
  16. Not true - the planning permission is conditional of the tree report, and the report/method statement that is accepted by the planning department must subsequently be followed until the building is completed and signed off (at which point you can fell all of the trees you’ve protected throughout the development…) To the OP - if the planners have agreed to your report and tpp you will need to follow it. You could arguably leave in the trees that are 20m away from the development but you definitely can’t damage trees that are assigned protection without risking being forced to replace/replant etc at considerable cost. If you don’t want the arboriculturalist on site then that’s upto you - just take plenty of pics to prove you followed the method statement.
  17. I hope that prediction is wrong but fear it may be right… If Usyk wins again then it is definitely the end of the road for AJ IMO. I never liked Fury and never rated him at all - he fought bums and never won convincingly, always looked like shit and somehow got loads of PR, and then somehow landed big fights and got arguably lucky wins. However, hats off he’s played the game better than anyone and has actually proven me wrong on the boxing front when really tested (it turns out he is actually good!). AJ should have been king of the castle - a clean-living good looking fella who is in reality a very good boxer. However, he totally misjudged Ruiz at the same time that Fury was on his way up again and the wheels have subsequently fallen off in grand style. The turn of fortune is bonkers really!
  18. It can be one of the most fickle too - contracts regularly change, always won on price. Rates haven’t gone up for years and there are plenty of fly-by-night firms who talk a big game but fail to pay their lads etc. Tread carefully would be my advice (but a directly employed gig with one of the electricity firms should be a very safe job).
  19. Anally Injected Death Syndrome? (Oh no, that’s already been used…)
  20. Get a clearview Pioneer 400. They are mint.
  21. I’ve had two Clearviews, and there are another 3 in my close family. I’ve also got a modern Jotul. I’d buy Clearview every time in the future - in my experience they burn extremely well and are incredibly controllable. Well made too.
