  1. As per thread title, I'm looking for sites that will take chip in the Birkenhead and surrounding areas. If anyone knows of anywhere I am all ears boys and girls! Cheers, Dan (07970188050).
  2. What is it?
  3. That ribbed bit should slide down as tight and square as you can and then be fire cemented in. You can drill the collar and put a couple of self tappers through to hold it down too if required.
  4. Mega! They look superb!
  5. I think that's most likely your issue. I've got a timber grab that is a pain to drop off and I thought was best left attached to a log. Getting it back on the machine and detached from the log is almost impossible because of the issues you're having.
  6. Do it on the grab fittings too. Make sure it is closed before removing (so gravity isn't adding to the issue) and turn the machine off, then ignition on and operate open/close to dump any pressure in the grab. Remove. On refitting, dump pressure out of the grab service lines as already stated and couple up. If it won't go together jam the pointy hydraulic undoerer device into the fittings on the grab to release any temperature induced pressure issues. Plug in and go grabbing!
  7. Are you competent? Have you got rigging experience?
  8. Can you not release the pressure in the fittings before plugging in? I've got a hex head combi-spanner for a bit of proddy proddy jammy jammy when the quick releases want a fight.
  9. Apparently I've heard the bottom ends go in them. I bought a van off an engine rebuilder (Cabstar that he had bought with a blown engine). He reckoned that the Ford 2.2 and the Nissan 2.5 engines keep him in business, and the problems all stem from people not changing the oil regularly enough. Manufacturers' 18000 mile service intervals aren't regular enough for these engines with EGR etc. 5-6000 mile oil changes (as in the old days) are essential and will offer longevity apparently.
  10. I know a massive amount about falling off motorbikes, poor DIY, and arguing with my wife - if anyone needs any advice about these things I am always here! A property expert is definitely a handy resource - thanks for the offer!
  11. Sorry for the derail.
  12. Been done again today - smashed the window on the van and grabbed a couple of climbing kits and some insulated rods. Happy new year!
  13. I'd go 1800kg personally. I think the chipper is about 1.3 tonnes from memory.
  14. I went with the Trailertek axle a few years ago and it was perfect (until some count pinched the chipper)...
  15. Exactly the info I was looking for - thanks Slim.
  16. I've just emailed Nissan to find out their take on it all...
  17. It gets banned every year and then seems to be released for a limited time as there isn't really anything else that can do the same job. And then gets banned again! If it is released this year I would like to spray a hedge, but don't know if it will kill the hedge as well as the bracken (that would defeat the purpose of the exercise to be fair!).
  18. Does anyone know if Asulox can be sprayed on bracken growing through a mixed hedgerow (hawthorn/holly/bramble/hazel) without killing the hedge itself (providing Asulox is not banned at the time of spraying of course)? Cheers!
  19. Thread resurrection (sorry!). I recently received a replacement v5 from the DVLA for my new (september 2016) Navara. The only difference is the mass in service - it was 2038 on the original v5, and the new one has it as 2023. The max permissible mass is 3010 on both. The cover letter with the new v5 states that the amendment has been made to provide evidence that the payload threshold is above that required by business customers to claim the VAT back. There is no mention of what this threshold is (I believe it to be 1000kg). The difference between mass in service and max permissible mass (ie payload) was 972kg and is now 987kg (still not 1000kg!). Mass in service and unladen weight are obviously different, and I still have nothing anywhere to refer to that gives unladen weight, either on the vehicle or in the owner's manual. Someone must have had a problem with the VAT for Nissan to go to the trouble of changing everyone's v5s. I know it doesn't directly refer to speed limits but it all seems to be within the remit of this thread somehow.
  20. I've got a few electric winchmax on various kit - they are very very good (incredible value for money). Never had any trouble other than a bad earth (which is more than I can say for a Warn winch we had that was a load of pony). If the hydraulic versions are as good as the electric ones you won't go wrong.
  21. They make chippers look incredibly expensive!
  22. I can't find any info on those Sany cabbed minis anywhere. Where did you hear about them Eddie?
  23. I think it is some sort of rhyming slang to do with dogging...
  24. To be honest I think I misread your original post. I thought you said you managed to pick up the damaged winch for free (ie you didn't pay anything for it). Rereading it I realise that isn't what you wrote, you are actually saying that you managed to free it off and don't allude to what it cost you. My bad, sorry! Either way, they look like a decent winch if they can be had for the right money!!!
