  1. Some days yes, some days no.
  2. The work at height regulations places duty even on the self employed to plan for emergencies and rescue. When carrying out climbing operations with a chainsaw that really has to include a competent rescue person on site. Some people will choose to follow this and others wont, but I don't believe any one has to work without a rescuer because of the cost. Its a choice. As the industry matures I hope we see less and less people climbing without competent rescuers. And every one will be able to take home good money for a good days work.
  3. jinx mistertee
  4. Timing of operations
  5. Great looking course. I would love to go on a course like that if they had one over here. The knuckleboom looks really swish.
  6. We always have someone on site who could perform an aerial rescue. I would not work for a company that sent me out with out one. Its absolutely no excuse to say that you cant afford to employ one because you price low to win jobs.
  7. Thats really quick. I bet the clients were impressed with that.
  8. That looks like a smooth, fast operation. Some useful looking vehicles. How many people/vehicles did you have on site throughout the day?
  9. I think its a great product. It would be better if when you bought all the items together in the climbing kit it was cheaper than if you purchased them separately. I guess they are trying to dump the certification and testing costs all on the kits rather than considering them as general overheads and spreading the cost. I hope it never becomes a requirement to have ce certified climbing systems. Its nice to have the choice of what, cord, rope, hitch combo you use and there are so many combinations that the cost of testing them all would be phenomenal.
  10. My girlfriend just bought a panasonic lumix dmc fx7. It has a wide angle lens which is great for getting pictures of the whole tree. I really rate this camera it gives much better photos then my canon powershot. I think she paid £160 for it but im sure you could get it cheaper. Some of the other panasonic lumix ones have mixed reviews, see if you can have a play with one.
  11. Nice shape logologist. Looks allot thinner too. We need to take some before and after shots like that for the works website but no one ever remembers to get before shots in the morning.
  12. Ulmus pumila ? Yew ? Zelkova serata ? No idea ????? Castanea sativa heterophylla ?
  13. Nice work. Im after some more swarms this year as mine are doing very badly at the moment Glad to here the bees are all O.K.

  16. Lovely cavity. I wouldn't sleep in there just in case it closed up and held me prisoner. It could be a trap!
  17. I would defiantly like to try them out. Im really busy at the moment but when Im a bit less busy maybe I could pop up and have a go.
  18. I don't think thinning will have the desired effect. Difficult to comment without seeing the tree. I would suggest a higher powered light bulb or some reflective paint. Maybe you could construct an elaborate system of mirrors or use a sledge hammer to make a new window opening. Think outside the box !
  19. Did you get them from the states or does someone stock them in the UK?
  20. Kleins with long gaffs and T pads are my favourite at the moment. I would like to try some caddy pads on them. The Gaffs on kleins are the nicest in my opinion. Comfort is more to do with how stiff your boots are, the stiffer the better.
  21. Here is the December retake paper from 2007 TC December 2007.doc
  22. Hope they haven't wandered to far David !
  23. My exams in June. Im just working through the dec 2007 paper as revision.
  24. Im sitting the exam at Merrist wood. Im on the December 2007 paper at the moment. I hate the way the questions are worded. I really have taken in nothing when it comes to the business stuff. I need to focus on that. Any way back to it. Will
