  1. A quick table of temperatures to illustrate. http://www.thermapure.com/pdf/dr_burge_paper.pdf I would suggest for imports 140C maintained for 3 hours would need to be the bare minimum and I doubt any logs imported have seen temperatures anything like that. The worrying part is some spores require heat of 75C to germinate which is the top end of the heat scale for these water based drying systems.
  2. The problem is the definition of kilning. I would suggest all these systems based on hot water are not really kilning but drying systems which give very little protection against bugs and diseases. We should follow the Australian method of high temperature kilns for a set minimum length of time at the end of which you can call it "heat treated".
  3. Just a photo of the mezzanine floor in the hay rick nefore putting in the hay bales. Tank at the end is diesel tank holding upto 5000 ltrs. Tractors etc stored under mezzanine floor.
  4. Really do like this company for any sort of fenceing materials.
  5. I charge £250 per day for hire of MB Trac with 9t forwarding trailer and operator. Would not consider hiring without operator as it so easy to abuse kit in woodland.
  6. Here is a typical Spec sheet http://www.uk.remeha.com/fileadmin/user_upload/Professional_Site_UK/Technical_Specifications/Generic_Wood_Chip_Specification.pdf I have some customers who have G30 spec but with fines removed as it is better for their gasifiers.
  7. What is this legal requirement that you have to be trained to use a chain saw. I thought the problem was any tom dick or harry can legally use a chain saw without training.
  8. Could always go for a new timber tractor complete with winch "SUPER" SENTINEL Timber Tractor - PRESTON SERVICES
  9. I have always used commercial pallet racking. First building was my hay rick with storage area for tractor and equipment underneath and hayloft above. Started out as temporary building but 12 years later its still standing and being used.
  10. Under Ofgem rules micro chp is under 2kwe https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/ofgem-publications/89098/fitpaymentratetableforpublication1october2014nonpvtariffs.pdf
  11. Thats ok the system I am looking at is 5 kwe with peak 10 kwe or multiples of that. Prices are still being sorted so will let you know when I know
  12. What is your electric requirement ie peak load in kw.
  13. Is it to fit into the government micro chp scheme if so it will only be 1kwe.
  14. What size will it be in terms of kwe and kwt
  15. I assumed Forestry was the guy advertising on arbtalk with the banner at the top of the page. Does not bother me whether it is or is not.
  16. Part of the BSL supplier register for approved RHI supply includes carbon calcs for both transport and drying. I would hope that kiln drying and import from Latvia is above the carbon threshold otherwise the whole system becomes a mockery.
  17. Never said it was a high quality press being Italian what do you expect. We bought the machine to produce firelighters which it does very well, to be able to produce briquettes was an added bonus.
  18. Do you know whether its an 11kv line or a 33kv line. The only power line I can find is up to Dounray and its to big to get a grid connection.
  19. Now the bridge is open you will find it hard to find a ferry.
  20. If I have timber that size I would rather stick it through the rack saw for planking and the slab wood through the processor for logs.
  21. Do you know if the power lines go anywhere near the site. Have been having difficulty trying to establish how easy it would be to connect the site into the grid.
  22. Used to be a merlin engine in one of the tractor pulling rigs when I was young dont know whether its still on the circuit but it did sound great.
  23. Italian Comafer did reasonable quality but I gave up when price dipped below £200 per tonne.
  24. At those prices I had better dust off my briquette press and start producing again.
  25. Not quite as easy as that unless you want a massive tax bill.
