  1. I restored our local church yard from being an overgrown neglected jungle to one where they now take marriage photo's in the grounds. It was all down to superstition a lot of the grave stones are flat stones and the parishioners would not walk over the gravestones. It does not bother me but once others had seen the improvement they decided there was nothing to worry about so they now have a rota to manage the grounds.
  2. Biomass plant would generate far more and cost far less and would not be subject to the sneaky uplift clause. (The reason why I came across the site in the first place)
  3. Would be worth it as a permanent APF type showground but with live harvesting and timber conversion which at the end of the 3 days the 1750 members could sell as there annual income.
  4. We have a landshare of upto 15 plots based on our old horticultural business. Each family has a designated area to grow vegetables on an outdoor plot and within two polytunnels there is also communal areas for rearing animals ie pig club sheep club. Normally have 2 batches of 4 pigs per year and each family in pig club gets 1/2 pig at a time. First Sunday every month have 2 hour communal work session which can extend depending on size of project to all day followed by BBQ and beers.
  5. Could be why the price seems reasonable but if individual risk is restricted to 1k then I think it is a punt most people would be happy with.
  6. Dont have that problem if you use a landshare format.
  7. What do you get if 1750 arbtalkers spend a grand http://johnclegg.s3.amazonaws.com/rosal-forest_264482334.pdf Looks good value to me but the locals might know different.
  8. Would be looking to run it on my Forward control MB Trac so 1000 speed will be ok my only concern looking at the spec is the length of the suction hose as from the back of the tractor to the end of the trailer is 6 mtrs.
  9. Not entering a competition for the most knackered looking boots I might just win.
  10. Anybody have experience of pto woodchip blowers. Cannot justify a blower truck but would like to offer a blow in service, Spec will be G30 W30 or W20 depending on customer boiler. Existing set up can take upto 14 m3 at a time and I dont think I need to go any larger.
  11. Well the ones I am wearing are black and there certainly airstreams although they have seen better days hence was going to treat myself to a new pair at the APF.
  12. No its not me. Just a bit concerned the way its worded any judge would think its an offer to sell a chipper at a fixed price with the buyer determined by the sale of the photo. Unfortunately English law is not black and white and I do believe you have put yourself in a grey area where the buyer of the photo could have the upper hand if you sold to someone else. I certainly would not risk advertising in such a manner.
  13. What was with the Henry Ford moment at the APF you can have any colour you like for airstreams so long as there red. Did all the suppliers agree to only bring red or have they stopped making black.
  14. Surely person who bids highest on the photo gets first refusal on the chipper at the price you want.
  15. My airstreams are tight next time will get larger size but only a real problem in winter when I have thicker socks on.
  16. I think they need to do a Fred Dibnah challenge to commemorate the great man. I think this climb in Darwen would be a suitable task if you could find someone mad enough to even put the ladders up.
  17. They normally say 20% of the selling price is drying cost. At the moment I have both machines mothballed due to the return on split logs being far better.
  18. Hire one of those all singing and dancing kindlet machines and supply the UK with kindling.
  19. I am afraid it does not work like that the MC has to be below 12% MC then the high pressure of 80 bar glues the lignin in the wood to make a solid briquette
  20. Briquettes are far easier than pellets. Looked at Pelheat when we bought ours and they struggled to get it to work as it was very similar to the chinese garbage I had already purchased as a trial machine. I still have it but only use it for trial mixes as its rubbish. If anyone wants to borrow it there quite welcome but I am sure it will put you off making pellets as its so sloooow.
  21. I do both briquettes and wood pellets and yes you can use your chip but theres a few things you need to do first. First your wood chip needs to be fine so high chip speed and low infeed speed on your chipper. Next problem it will be far to wet typically 35-55% when for briquettes you need max 15% and wood pellets 12%. Once down to that level you then need to pulverise the chip in a hammer mill to reduce it to a powder. Then put through your briquette or wood pellet press at a mere 80 bar pressure. Simples Only problem is cost of the kit min 50k for cheap chinese or 90k for something that works. Any other questions fire away.
  22. Think he was early 50's when he died which is no age.
  23. Dont know if the same guy but he was called Jean Pain. Not only heated his house with the wood chip pile but captured sufficient gas to use for cooking and run his 2CV car on gas. Videos are on youtube if you google Jean Pain. Very clever man but died young from suspected illness caused by fungal spores on the woodchip.
  24. Normally only a problem when the depth of woodchip exceeds 3 mtrs deep unless the chip is especially green. I normally store my chip in IBC containers so I dont have the problem.
  25. Also got some handy kit if you get involved with some bigger take downs or require a large chipper.
