  1. Never did find in the yard the steps they took off my MB Trac.
  2. Well I must admit I am very impressed with the detail of the forestry policy put forward by the Green party its just a pity others are not so open with there policies.
  3. leswold. Unfortunately thanks to our lovely neighbors we are on first name terms with the enforcement officer so everything has to be by the book. After 4 years of argument and with the support of English Heritage we finally have Listed Building Consent to seal the building up with 3G windows and put in heat recovery ventilation units to control the atmosphere of the building.
  4. Not quite true see English Heritage below as curtilage is very important. Listed Buildings | English Heritage
  5. This is what we had to do. http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/uploads/1app/guidance/guidance_note-certificates_of_lawfulness_listed_building.pdf
  6. In theory anything within the curtilage of a Listed Building will require Listed Building Consent as it could affect the setting of the Listed Property. You could understand this if there was a couple of ancient Yews or a specimen oak but normally you find a lot of mature weeds that can cause damage to the fabric of the Listed Building if there removed. We even had to get permission to remove ivy off our Listed Building even though it was damaging the fabric of the building.
  7. If its classed as agricultural and less than 5 hectares I would not even contemplate trying to run any sort of business from the land. Even worse will be if the scrub contains weeds such as ragwort or Japanese knotweed as it will cost you serious cash to get rid of the problem.
  8. Lost 3 bays of a 15 bay polytunnel but it was due to be replaced this year anyway so no real harm done.
  9. I had a BEIS grant for my solar kilns but they have not repeated the scheme for a number of years now.
  10. If within 100 mtrs sightline of house then you could use wireless infra red cameras which can record in the house so your pictures are secure or put on your telly so you can see who is prowling about from the comfort of your armchair.
  11. Problem is logs are ideal for anyone on jobseekers. Have 48 weeks sat on backside for £65 a week so £3k earned in year then go self employed for 4 weeks and earn 7k selling 140 tonne bags at £50. Seasonal trade so can justify signing back on again plus gets you brownie points for not being long term unemployed.
  12. Just because its a sideline does not mean that it is taxable unless the main job has already used up the full personal tax allowance.
  13. Even if the dodgy dealer was getting £50 for every tonne bag he would need to sell over 200 bags before he has any tax liability whatsoever thanks to the high tax personal allowances. If the wood in the bag cost him £25 a bag then he could sell 400 bags without the need to pay any tax whatsoever. Big difference between making a profit and having to pay tax.
  14. Our farm is pitch black. Cannot see the point of making life easy for the thieves by lighting up all your assets. Plenty of security night cameras linked into the telly so you can see whats going on without leaving the comfort of your armchair and electric fencing I can turn on at the flick of a switch.
  15. Think it was planted in a conservatory and grew to big to transplant so they let it grow through the roof. Was coming into flower when I was on a course there so concern that it would die. Not heard anymore since.
  16. Think there used to be a palm that went through the roof at Myerscough college.
  17. Is that 4 tonne trailer if on trailer air brakes as part of the 6 tonne GTW.
  18. Surely if the trailer is on air brakes its not a lot different from towing a 15 tonne trailer with a 6 tonne MB Trac.
  19. I use a Holder A15 with pallet forks to haul out IBC containers. Normally chip brash into IBC containers bigger stuff stood upright in 1 mtr lengths in IBC container.
  20. Cannot get a flatbed to customers for delivery but can deliver IBC on the back of a Landrover. So by taking 10 IBC's on the back of a trailer I can extend distribution range from farm base by using trailer like a mobile base if that makes sense.
  21. Sticking a forklift on the back of mine so that I can deliver 10 IBC containers at a time on my big trailer. Need to sort out air brakes for mine.
  22. Guy I know moved to NZ to set up horticulture business took all his UK specialist equipment with him but it was all stripped, steam cleaned, resprayed and reassembled without oils coolant etc. Went through no problem but customs where pleased he had taken so much care and attention.
  23. Not in the market as my defender is already in the process of being modified I was just curious as to this guys ebay technique.
  24. Any ebay specialists care to explain in laymans terms the logic behind the bidding on this item. I know there is all sorts of tactics but I cant work this one out. I know I am useless when it comes to ebay thats why I normally just set a bid limit and then leave it upto my daughter to get it as cheaply as possible. I dont know what she does but it works really well.
  25. Busy year this year now we finally have planning permission and listed building consent after years of aggravation.
