  1. Although i completly understand what your trying to achieve i would have taken a different stance on the management of the site. Given that it is a publicly accessable area instead of using the financial resources as you have i would have removed the tree and replaced. This is just my opinion but i have been on the recieving end of a phone call to say that a tree has fallen over and killed someone. The tree in question was known to have specific areas of concern and was being actively managed with a timescale for replacement. So when it comes to trees and public safety, i'm afraid the tree is quite often going to get it.
  2. Be careful buzz, that that pic is virtualy arb porn!
  3. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!
  4. Not sure about end market steel prices, but scrap has nose dived in the last three months at an alarming rate!
  5. If that was my jod i'd have sent you back up! 25% is closer to a spank rather than a tickle! Nice shape though....
  6. You want to be slightly cautious with woodland trees. They are quite often very "leggy" and can be alot taller than you think.
  7. I'd be interested in knowing what percentage of new, college educated tree workers leave the industry within the first three to four years of being qualified when they find out what the job is really all about.
  8. Looks like he's roped in on a tree just over and behind the top stem. Looks like he got lucky that that didn't rip out aswell. I personaly wouldn't have even contemplated trying it his way and yes, his mates do sound like p*** taking fatherless men!
  9. Where are you shooting in Wales dean?
  10. Those black flappy things on the back of the chipper, what purpose do they serve?
  11. Theres really only one guy to work for in Henley and thats hugo loudon of Heritage trees out in stoke row. Bloody good chap....
  12. P, I, K, E, Y YOU AINT GOT NO ALIBI, YOUS PIKEY! I personaly didn't rate them that much, just average.
  13. Er, spank the arse out of it?
  14. About seven/eight months ago i was re-pollarding some gnarly, orrible ash. Real pain of a job, when a chap comes round from next door saying his boss wants a word. Turns out to be Des "permatan" o'conner who starts spitting feathers about saw dust on his crappy conservatory. Couldn't help but smile at the guy as he was doing his nut. All i ws thinking was "he,he, its him off the telly!" Another one i had was a few years ago, when working for the LA. Storm damage has cracked out a limb on a street side ash. We turn up to see the limb hung up and a car underneath. After trying to seek the cars owner at every house within practical range with no joy, we decided to move the car using special wheel trolleys, very easy. moved the car about 10m and completed the works. The car owner came home from work after we'd gone and went mental! Even to the point of writing to the local paper to complain about the stress she had suffered when she found her car moved. Ungrateful cow! Should have just made her a new sun roof.
  15. Can't quite put my finger what i didn't like about the show, possibly not enough action going on. Got there about 10.30 and by 3.30 i was bored. Felt quite sorry for the people paying for their stands who were getting totaly smoked out by the charcoal burner!

Reckon someone must be making big bucks out of that show.
  17. Being multi stemmed that beech looks like it would be a pig to reduce (very leggy imo) and over the years i've found that its quite difficult to achieve a really good top to the reduction because of it being multi stemmed.

I don't think the venue lent itself particularly well to the show, walked around not quite sure if i'd seen everything. And if i see another flippin' log splitter i going to go into melt down!

Maybe its just me, but i wasn't as impressed at this show as much as i was the last one.
  20. Why on earth was the guy let loose with a crane? Thats just wrong.
  21. A bit vague as far as name dropping goes dont you think?
  22. He's either a very lazy climber, inexperienced or more than likely both! Just because the guys got a crane he's gonna start cranking out damn near 60% of that tree in one hit, what a muppet. Those stropping points were miles out! Bet his groundies just love working with him. He's the kind of guy who'll crank out monster sections and then sit like fat pigeon while his groundies struggle their nuts off! Whoever said "fortune favours the brave" got it wrong in his case!
  23. Crikey, that groundy isnt half fat!
  24. Knocked the belts off on several 26's. The only other problem with the 26 was that the cutting head was too small to clear the debris away properly and as a result the head spends too much time churning through material it has already ground out. I did find the solution, although i don't think it was very legal! But when applied it transformed the machine like you wouldn't believe!
