  1. ....when it so nearly goes horribly wrong and by the graced of god nothing gets damaged. Are arbs the spawniest workers around or is it just me?
  2. For the love of god, don't show it to the hse!
  3. Tick, tock..... How much time left stevie b? I'd like to reserve the last 30 odd seconds to get my two pence worth without the need to worry about replies!
  4. I think you'll find that americans love to fell aswell!
  5. How long did it take you to fix that 020t?
  6. Any uk arborist thats worked in the usa will be able to understand where the yanks are coming from. The US have considerably more space and trees than us and so feel less inclined to retain trees. Hence their seemingly lack of understanding for our reasons for tree retention.
  7. Last time we had pics of a similar tree which had already been worked on and quite a few people got their nickers in a twist about what had been done. What were the TO reasons for felling? Whats the location of the tree? Information is king in situations like this.
  8. You might be normal after all!

    Boots.

Which is rather ironic i think when you consider your slippers would provide probably as much protection from saw cuts as chainsaw boots. ( although i must admit i have not researched the chaisaw protective capabilities of slippers! Just my ridiculous opinion.)
  10. I'm not suprised, looks like he wants to rip your nuts off for just taking his picture!
  11. Too true, i think a lot of us fall into the trap of living in the moment and blinkered by our suroundings. Obviously we all have commitments, but as the saying goes "your a long time dead" Its only when we get to our mature years do we wish we'd probably taken a few more opportunities!
  12. Nice pics, is the guy with the saw wearing trainers?
  13. On a serious note, i hope that everyone makes it to the next anniversary, climb safe guys and leave the srt to the girls. Now, off to get drunk as a lord!
  14. Public would always come up when your doing a really tricky light reduction/ target prune and ask "your not taking that tree down are you?" As you wobble on a branch tip with a flippin' silky in hand!
  15. YOUR CONFUSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Its good to hear of comprehensive management, but, as i'm sure your aware the public seem to have a death wish when storms start blowing and think its a good idea to walk around large trees and woods! R/A or not, you cant allow for idiocy and acts of god. I was once witness to this and was asked to assist the fire brigade removing a large chestnut of a car with a dead person inside. Not a nice experience!
  17. er, where do the saws go?
  18. Tana, just to clarify something for me, was that tree in immediate danger of uprooting/collapse?
  19. Just wondered, what with this day and age of liability, i'm suprised that whoever runs the park is happy to have trees like that around. What say you monkeyd ?
  20. Monkeyd, looks like that tree was in a public park, right?
  21. Yes sirree, the american way. Machinary is king, and if you cant gettit whit dat boy, stick a redneck or a mexican on the job.
  22. I dunno about you lot but sometimes i find that trying to access a small tree with a tight crown structure can be a real pain in the butt to throw line. Gimme a 60ft throw no probs, 20ft? you'd think it would be easy wouldn't you. Ladder wins.
  23. Thats the american way my friend.
