  1. One time I worked near ABC lines the local leccy board put a yellow shroud over the cable. It's still there 5 years later!
  2. Costing a job, and wondered if anyone on here had a mewp to hire, rather than giving my money to a platform company? They are roadside trees, so something quick to set up and move would be ideal. Al.
  3. You are correct. I don't have any UA tickets, and whilst I have worked over the twisted insulated lines going to houses quite happily, I did not like the look of this one, hence my asking the question. I have 28 years experience of tree surgery, so fairly competent now, but this is the first time I have looked at a tree in this situation. I know my limitations, and when to ask for advice, and I also like to go home to my wife and kids at the end of the day:thumbup: Cheers...Al
  4. Might as well let them sort it then, and I'll live for another day Thanks for all the replies guys. Al
  5. If I cut a branch off and it touches one of the wires, will it fry me?
  6. Have you got a number for the guy with the missile launcher - I wouldn't have to climb it then!
  7. Not done a tree next to one of these before, so should I be getting the leccy board involved? The Euc is to be felled and is about 5 feet at the closest point.
  8. In north Woking area, on border with Berkshire.
  9. Now looking for an experienced climber to take some of the work load off me, so I can develop the business and keep on top of quotes etc. Could be employed or self employed, but minimum 3 years full time climbing experience required and all relevany nptc's. Salary depending on whether employed or self employed and skill level/experience. Email a cv to: [email protected] Cheers...Al
  10. Been busy with my 130 for the last month converting it from 300tdi to 15p TD5 engine due to emission zone in London, and also from R380 manual to ZF4 auto as the box needed changing anyway as syncro had gone, and fancied an auto. Should be finished tomorrow, just got to do a bit of tidying in the cab, and put antifreeze in.
  11. I have a vacancy for a climber/grounds man. You will be on a self employed basis, mostly for 5 days a week starting asap. You will need NPTC 31, 32 & 38 (39 would be good not essential as you can work towards this) and a minimum of a years experience climbing. I am not expecting you to do all the bigger or more technical jobs on your own, but to help out with the smaller trees, and up with me on the bigger ones where possible. All my work is either domestic, or commercial along with trees in woodlands, but definately no council street trees Pay will depend on experience, and work ethic. Reply on here, or pm me with cv. Al.

  14. Hi James, Check this thread: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/32934-tree-survey-records.html Might have been epicollect at the end of the thread? Al.
  15. Not right I'm afraid. If you are vat registered anything you sell has to have vat added unless it is 0% rated.
  16. So you clip the cube to your harness then?? Each to their own I suppose...
  17. Agreed. But he didn't do that in the video..
  18. I had a three day job booked in this week subbing to an Arb consultancy firm. Job was to fell 2 x wellingtonias. Had a hiab arranged to section the trunks down and an Arbtalker was collecting the wood. Made a courtesy call Monday afternoon to the tree owner to remind him we were coming in Tues, Weds and thurs only to be told the trees had been done about 3 weeks ago! Still don't know what happened or who did them?
