  9. The bark is very rich in oil and is very water replelant, good for containers. The sap is used as a spring drink in Sweden and can be used to make wine. The wood is very easy to carve and produces a very smooth finish, The burls from the tree are used to create a traditional drinking vessel from Sweden called a Kuksa. The highly-decorative Masur (or Karelian) birch, from Betula verrucosa var. carelica has ripple texture combined with attractive dark streaks and lines.

Its made from Alabama Damascus, 5160(Spring Steel) 203e (Low carbon high impact high nickel mild steel alloy) 15N20 (Bandsaw blade material) 52100 (Ball bearing steel) 1018 (Structural steel) and Nickel 200. Forged out and folded 5 times to give 416 layers its 5mm thick so its never going to snap.

Good cheap knives, fixed blades Moras are worth a look there about a tenner, folders, and legal to carry, Trevor Ablett are good and British made by hand, Pocket Knives Made in Sheffield by Little Mester Trevor Ablett Greenman Bushcraft - Cutting Tools > Bushcraft Knives > Frosts Mora Bushcraft Training Knife - High Carbon Clipper Some other good knives in his shop. A friend of mine used to make knives and made me this in return for prunning his tree.
