  1. $800 quid boots? Really? You can buy boots from Treetools for around 5-600 bucks and a set of waterproofs from NZ safety for about $100 or 50 quid. Yeesh, do a bit of research. If you're working you don't need the flashiest waterproofs, just something that does the job. Prices have gone up. Live in the city and stuff does get expensive but other stuff compensates. You are right in that the employer should he providing wet weather gear, steel toe caps and chainsaw gear along with ropes and climbing gear. Just depends if you want bling and who you're working for. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Glad you made it back on here bud. It all went off the rails a bit so nice to see your contributions again. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. What you also have to take into consideration is if there is a head on between a vehicle that has crumple zones etc and one that doesn't. Had one recently here between a ssangyong and an older Toyota coupe type vehicle. The ssangyong came off pretty well but the other was totalled. Difference between walking away with minor injuries and being flown to emergency care with critical injuries. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Pruning spikes; rubber covered tips so they don't damage the cambium Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Easiest way is to get a job with someone like Asplundh; they'll do much of the paperwork for you. Otherwise, just fill in the papers, send em off with your money and passport and that's it. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. What Drew said. That's just down right ignorant. We already have enough pests, diseases etc that we are struggling to deal with without people bringing in more in unchecked gear. Who knows what seeds and the like you might have in/on your gear. Just wash all your gear before you come out and disinfect anything you think might need it. It's not that difficult and a lot of the time going through the something to declare channel is quicker that hanging around at passport check. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Bobcat. Easy. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Yeesh, will people never learn. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Brake cleaner and compressed air works ok for us. Otherwise, hot soapy water then CRC or WD40 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. That's a pretty mean effort Mario. I've been taking tips and hints from the Paleo thread. I've dropped around 14-16 kilos since Christmas. Finally cracked the 80 kilo mark for the first time since I can't remember. It's nice finding pants/trousers that haven't fitted for 14 years now are too loose. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. You're right, you don't miss it. The wife makes paleo muffins which are great as a sweet treat but there's not a great deal I do miss. Sometimes a bacon butty on white or a bag of cheese and onion walkers. There was a guy on the news the other day who quit sugar and dropped 34 kilos although he uses fructose to make his sweet stuff. 12. Long trip but what a way to see the country. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. I just replaced the beer with wine bud. It's the sugar and bread that are the real killers. Starting to make news in NZ now too. Paleo is becoming big news and sugar free even bigger. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone who has contributed positively to this thread. I finally got around to weighing myself today and I've dropped around 15-16 kilos in 3-4 months. I've incorporated a couple of naughties such as rice and full cream milk in my diet but otherwise I'm doing pretty well and, contrary to most other diets, have found it quite easy to follow the longer I get in to it. 15. Only seen it on small screen but to me it looks like he had his topping strop set just below the botttom of the scarf. I can't see a pulley of any kind and it looks like at least a quarter of the tree on the rigging rope. The rope didnt run pulling the head down until the rope snapped. Massive catapault. Hope the guy is OK. Massive lesson in cutting smaller right there.
  16. That's the one Mario. To be fair, I wasn't looking at the stone necklace on this photo. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Bloody awesome. Not much more to say really. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. I'm happy to do the odd while you're here job depending on the customer and the job obviously. Some customers get it done free if they're repeats and it's not a major. Sometimes you get a feel for a customer when you price the job and there are several now that, after I've met, I don't even bother quoting. Had one women recently kept digging me in the ribs and then pointing out jobs that she wanted doing as we walked around her garden. I didn't even bother writing out the quote. Others will get the extras done just for the browny points it might earn and the feel good factor. Maybe I'm just a soft touch but if I go home happy I don't care. If it looks like the can you just is going to be ongoing though, it's time to stop the job and have a proper discussion. I too don't use signed contracts and as of yet it hasn't bitten me. 19. There was a cracking one posted on the FaceBook page that had this young lady front and centre. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Gave up all bread and sugar except for a cheat day on Sunday when I have a couple of slices of vogels toast for breakfast. Been following the principles of paleo though not strictly. I still like a glass of wine or two at night but spuds are gone too. I'm down four belt holes though no idea how much weight. Like one of your previous posts alluded too Steve; better in, better out. Noticed a major and much improved difference in this area. I still eat fruit but not heaps, cook in mainly natural fats and olive oil, eat plenty of meat and find myself less hungry so less likely to snack. The odd bit of sugar sneaks in when I have mustard or mint sauce but otherwise it's long gone. Sugar added to Bacon? Really? I find myself checking labels on everything and making more of my own stuff so I know what's in it. I feel heaps better too. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. Ate Boneos and dried dog food when I was a kid. Some of it actually tasted quite nice. Can't see it being any worse than a can of coke and a pie. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. We run pretty much the same on a 192t and it's bloody awesome. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Beale pinch. Not sure of the spelling sorry but they're cheap as chips. I use them on my SJ and they do the job just fine. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. You might want to check that you can actually sub contract on a working holiday visa. That would require you paying your own tax, ACC etc, unless you're looking at doing it under the table. If you get caught you'll be booted out of the country immediately. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. How long did that take John? Until I flicked between the two photos I didn't think it had been touched. I don't like reductions but that's an awesome effort. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
