I was a builder in bacton?cotton near you andy for 21 years got fed up of it needed a change, came to the estate as a maintenance man after three weeks they asked if i would take on the forestry department and sent me to college as you all know i love trees and the outdoors and even as i am poor me and the family are very happy here:001_smile:
  4. Better to sell it for crafts or woodturner. talking of which i found a really old spindle tree today in a neglected wood some nice spoons there.

  7. Mine are free i keep planting some to warm woods for pheasants so i allways have a stock, also i have plantations of spruce about 30-40 years old fell one and use the top:001_smile:
  8. The other morning at 8 o clock a white transit van pulled into my yard the barn doors were open so i quickly shut them, he said i am lost mate he was irish and had a broken nose. i was clad he did not get a look in the barn. the police have warned us they are about.
  9. That was quick dean. i agree but the worst is the lonicera it just spreads and looks a mess, the keepers did not like it when i stopped planting these but if you coppice native shrubs you get a similar effect.
  10. I was reading the thread on native trees and it got me thinking about my woods i stopped the gamekeepers from planting laural and lonicera in the woods and started planting more hazel. what do you think is there a place for evergreen shrubs non native in our woods.

  13. Lee unusual to see someone who likes opera. My son plays double bass for the nationl youth orchestra and is going for his audition for the royal college of music tomorrow.

  16. MS260 i use it on a daily basis will handle most things.
  17. I saw something similar to that, i had to make some oak cubes for a client and one went wrong and the farm manager had it, when i saw it a few weeks ago it had Ganoderma and fistulina brackets growing on it it looked really odd:001_smile:

  21. Yes i can see it must be hard some people still think they can run before they can walk. Have you got plenty of good walks where nyou are? have you got many veteran trees?

  24. I would not call that the dark side i would call that being mature and trying to take things a bit steady as you get older, i think we all would like to slow down maybe get a desk job oh no i think i will stay out side in the cold.
