  1. Welcome to the woodmans choice. I don't let gamekeepers decide nothing and we don't have a forestry consltant but we do have a land agent but he does not know an ash from an oak. true story this he took me in rondwood to mark up two or three oaks to sell as timber trees he marked one and it was an ash he said no it is not ash trees have smooth bark the tree was at least 300 years old with deep fisures.

  7. THE SOME are going to stay cold what little seasoned firewood i have left iwill keep for me with two wood burners going all day, and we might get a bad winter with this white stuff.

I have three dogs jasper a ruby king charles spaniel he is 9 my baby. theo a yellow lab he is 5 and zippy a black lab he is 4 he belongs to the old gamekeeper who is very ill in hospital and he wants me to have his dog if he dies.   11. Good points i started off with a hy=crack wormer which i still use on large rings. I have now got a second hand jappa speeds things up a lot but i dont like to borrow money so build up slowly:001_smile:
  12. I say it is all sporting here but that is not all true, the owner is mad on trees and wild flowers so he is always wanting work done in the woods. we are also trying to clear all the neglected ponds.

  14. All the timber trees on my estate are overaged when one falls down the timber merchant comes out and says he can not pay any thing because of the cost for him to remove it. but the woods here are managed but this is only for sporting if the shooting stopped i would not have a job:001_smile:
  15. Yes it is a 700 a 1995 model have you got one? I also need a new blade for it do you use a tungston tipped one or one that you sharpen and set?

I had a day off today and went to a second hand book shop for old forestry books they had the 70s 4 volume set of w bean trees and shrubs of great britain £150. i have the 1952 three volume set and i bought them for £45 ithink i got a bargin i like the old books better my oldest book is 1883. what is your oldest book in your collection?

  23. I have the same problem on my jappa processor it is when i start it up the splitter goes mad in and out non stop, then after 20 mins it just stops. is mine the same to cure? maybe they don't like winter:001_smile:
