  1. i ordered some bits from thekubotaman on the net, he certainly knew his stuff. bits arrived in a couple days. looks like he specialises in remanufacturing injection pumps etc etc
  2. I will strip it and have a look at the cylinder. The saw is knocking on 12years old. The exhaust went a month ago and i put on one of those dual port exhausts, that wouldn't be a cause would it?
  3. ms 660 pot and piston has gone. has anyone fitted that hyway big bore kit that i see on the bay? is it any good? I have only ever replaced1 pot and piston before and that lasted a week before it went again, probably still in the hedge where i threw it!
  4. yes it was a firm in lockerbie i think
  5. Had a rim sprocket shatter the other day on my 066, which I've never had happen before, part of it got caught under the chain, this i think caused the nose sprocket to go to. its a windsor speed tip bar and i see someone on ebay is selling new tips for £15 (sta375) but as in the title, how hard is it to replace the tip as i have never done one before. or should i just buy a new sugihara bar?!

    Stihl ms150

oh yea, she's a beauty! best saw still have made in years Does however for me increase the temptation to use the saw one handed, even when not really required.
  7. I've just bought a new 130 to replace a dead 100, all my attachments are even looser now than they were in the old head. and i got through several bolts on that one. its true, you have to buy a dedicated machine for the job.
  8. reversing the chipper or trailer with the avant just takes a bit of getting used to. Its a strange feeling, turning the wheel left and you shoot out to the right! you do have to watch your sides when in tight spots. a few more pics! A nasty, dead, ivy, bramble infested leyland hedge. Not a scratch, not a single scratch!
  9. Rod and brace in an ideal world. The crack was concerning though. But i would just love to watch you pull the forks apart with a winch! An arbtalkers day out!
  10. something a little different! they want to get rid of leylandi totally eventually but didn't want to be without screening from the neighbours. So we just hacked the side off to allow room to plant native hedging. I didn't fancy digging in posts for a fence on top of exposed bank. So we just fixed to the stems. The fence is only meant to be temporary and was originally only going to be windbreak fabric!
  11. yep, the avant is a good tool. especially as its only a ton. I have only had mine a short while. I will have to change the way i price jobs when using it, i normally just go on a day rate, but will have to work out a rate for this. i have just been adding on the cost of an extra man. It is a weird machine to get used to drive especially if your used to driving compact tractors or the like.
  12. Issues with my 2012 550 been back to dealer for 2 computer upgrades? New chain brake lever (log hit it) New air filter assembly screw adjustment on air filter assembly. (choke lever kept dropping with the slightest pull) New engine (due to seizure, air leak in a pipe, probably caused when they replaced air filter assembly?) 3 bars (popped sprockets) (being a stihl man i don't grease as often as i should!) 1 snapped chain. (a week old) Exhaust has now developed cracks all-round the spark arrester holding in screw hole. (£60 plus vat for new exhaust!) It has been in with the dealer more time than i have had it and used it. My dealer has been rubbish in my opinion, never apologised, never offered me a new saw, always acting like its my fault! So no i wouldn't buy another one. I would like to try a 346. i have gone back to 6 yr old 240 which starts beautifully, ok not as quick cutting! but smooth. Stihl 441 cm is just as bad. That has been back in with dealer now for 3/4 wks
  13. Avant have brought out 2 new loaders, the R series. R28 and R35 Still not oscillating but articulated and the driver is sat on the rear of the machine. Easier to drive apparently
  14. yep, i will check that in the morning. Thanks If it is the valve sounds like a new engine then? To be honest i wouldn't be that upset, never did like the machine. Hopefully the newer ones are better?
  15. just stopped working today, the engine will rotate freely in both directions until it suddenly stops? is it one of those dropped valves? what sort of a job is the repair? thanks
  16. belts are 9 yrs old on my tunnissen 190! never had to touch them. i did get a new belt for the feed roller drive once but i just had to tighten it in the end.
  17. thanks for the replies guys so what make is a good quality one then?
  18. I've got a schliesing 200mx if your interested
  19. Remember its only a matter of time until we have to have reverse lights anyway(Standard on new trailers already,so might as well start conforming,at least if you back into someone and have to claim then having reverse lights may be brownie points in your favour….. yep that was what i was thinking. But is the euro socket any better than standard 7 pin in terms of life expectancy? I have an adapter on my brian james trailer, from 8 down to 7 pin, the pins on the 8 pin side seam to connect well, more like the clang type lorry socket. but the pins on the 7 pin side are not so good, iam getting bad connections there already
  20. fed up of having to replace these every year. I have heard that the euro socket is better and utilises the reverse light on many newer trailer lights. But this means having to re wire euro socket in. Anyone done this? pros cons?
  21. well i never, i must be the one who always tells people it's crap! must try some
  22. agreed, a beautiful rope, works very well in sj
  23. aarrrggghhh! first day back to work with the 550 and the nose sprocket pops!
  24. just in case anyone is interested! just got my saw back from the dealer. turns out there was a split in an air hose some where, so was sucking in air, which caused the oily plug and engine seizure. don't know how this was caused, maybe when they replaced the air filter assembly when it went wrong last time? Now just waiting for my 441 cm to come back from the dealer!
