  1. Think what he ment is the legs and frame will eat into the weight that the vehicle can legally carry not leaving a lot for the crane itself, during work it's not a problem as with my landy picker the vehicle is almost just dangling under the sub frame. 2. Had similar thought a while back and basically it came down to how heavy the crane was as to what reach verses lift could be achieved without overloading the land-rover, never got further than it being an idea but 1 ton at 6m is quite a bit don't think my big botex is even rated at that! 3. Nice video Alex Done a few video but for premonition I did this 1 for the grinders and intend to do others similar for our other bits of kit or services, click on my channel for the general tree killing videos as well. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. What you need is a adjustable bridge on your treemotion, let it out long for ascending and pull it in for working, best of both worlds. Will get pictures tomorrow if I get time. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. Possibly not as well as a spiderjack but then it won't try and freefall kill you like 1 either! Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. Combination of the above really, nice stuff becomes logs nd try and do about 150m3 which helps cover yard rent and fills in wet days and half days, sell on some timber in lengths either for milling or oversized firewood and get a big stack together and get hizo in to chip it all to go off locally for biomass. Nothing is wasted! Got let down too many times by people saying they were coming to collect timber off site or they would take it if I dropped it off to find they only wanted some of it so had to become self sufficient and find markets for everything which actually turns byproducts a bit extra profit. Also thinking if we do get a quiet spell a decent tractor can always be sent off with driver to do a bit of farm trailer work Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  7. I M O Tachyon is a far better rope for self tending and less bouncy if you have a lot above you, couple all that with a low friction device at the top and your on a winner Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. Good point, not like I'm competing against 100s in same area. Really boils me it's a constant we want money off you for your website and if you don't you'll disappear...... Getting suspicious that that could happen intentionally instead of progressively by them deleting what's been done before to make sure your ranking drops so you panic and spend more to get it back especially since its something they know we can't check up on. Almost blackmail!! Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  9. Mate put her on Dino when he was checking brakes for me and said she was running 98hp which is strange as was mentioned to be 97 as standard so think fuel pump might have been tweaked at some point Yes that was a fair load to think I came same way with this load on valtra and only dropped into 3rd. 10. Unfortunately we don't have flat roads round here! There's slow and ridiculously/dangerously slow, having to change into low box to get through town is just asking to get pulled. Stopping is another interesting affair and only going to end badly 1 day. Tryed the trailer on another valtra and that's fine. Don't need to use all the speed a newer tractor can give but it'll maintain what you choose to use longer and use a hell of a lot less fuel. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  11. 399 bud, she's a cracker of a tractor but unfortunately she's going to be up for sale soon as we need more hp to maintain road speed since getting the botex and using it more. She ticks every box she was got for around the yard and as a winch tractor but that big trailer is just a bit too much for her. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. Bit of Web advice needed. Payed my website housing company a decent wedge last year for seo stuff which has worked getting us a decent placement but now less than a year on they say I need to spend another 400 on redoing it as apparently key words and links die off and need reviving ells our findability will drop off dramatically and quickly. To me it just sounds suss nd they have just found a licence to print money from our ignorance Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. Lovely little tractor. Perfect for that job! 👍 Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  14. With the small grabs you get what you pay for, a mate got a cheap kelfri 1 that was bent and twisted in no time on his 2.5ton bobcat, I stumped up a bit more for a decent 1 from Rico with a bigger 4 bolt rotator as wanted it to go on both 3 ton and a hired in 8 ton and it's handled some big lumps, 100s of tons of cordwood and who knows how much brash aswell as laying miles of pipes for the company I get the 8ton off and the paint is hardly off it. 15. Picked up a good load of pine of a development site after a contractor had cleared all the trees but left what looked like everything they didn't want and the site forman just needed it gone, I did take two off this load before heading slowly off down the road straight to the sawmill to sell it on 😉 then a load of smaller crap I'll chip for biomass. 16. Way to steep with large rocks and gully to work round and several near vertical 2m step offs in places, tryed crampons but caused more of a trip hazard than it solved. Think this would have stood a better chance! Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. Yeh all radioed up so man on rope could easily talk to controller at top and ambassador at bottom and generally take the piss every time someone fell over, made the whole thing more enjoyable 👍 Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. Behaves the same in wet, dry, hot, cold conditions, best climbing device for ddrt in my opinion and I'm on my 4th, 2 cracked and got replaced and wore 3rd out so got another. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. Never had that 'yet' but had some ask for a discount for letting me take the timber away as I'm loading the forwarder at the end of the day of taking down the tree, just unloaded it back onto the drive and said fine keep it. Amazing how quickly it's a ow OK you can have it. Hope that made sense as a few medicinal beers in tonight. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  20. Not the best ever but mustn't grumble as still worth having, the running costs of the job weren't high and should get a lot of work from the client off the back of it as we are the 1st contractor to satisfactory complete the job in nearly 6 years. To tell you the truth we quite enjoyed it as a change and challenging job even if we are all a little sore tonight looking back at the site from the opposite hillside looks good. Going to go back in the spring and treat all the sycamore and elder regen as it starts to leaf up then hopefully it'll only need doing every 2 years after that. 21. 3 days of epic strimming and vegetation hight adjustment. Made an interesting chance but my knees are paying the price tonight. I Wrecked 1 mulching blade and Ben drew the short straw and found the obligatory wasp nest, not easy to run away when your tethered and up to your waist in brambles and balsam. 22. Pm busy daddy on here. Not far off scotch corner as might be able to fit you around other customers in area. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
