  1. Known as asexual gymnosperm species if I can remember back to my uni days.
  2. I know, looked into it! Also looked into bringing 1 in but not practical even if iv added us upgrades in larger double felling dogs and 8 pin sprocket.
  3. Try garath at arbfortraining based just outside layburn, easy to get on with bloke.
  4. Hell yes 390xp is the best bigger saw iv ever owned in the last 17years but an xpg would top that!
  5. The males have pricklS the female don't ;-) Flowers like said is about the only way to be sure, any particular reason you need to know or just an interest of yours?
  6. It's how some of the big yank company's role, tree team go out and stack brash at roadside and the grab wagon go's round and clears up after several teams at the end of the day then tips in the yard then something like a bandit beast comes in when full and deals with the lot in 1 go but all the handling in hydraulic and big. Nothing worse than trying to pull a pile of mashed up brash apart then try feeding lots of little stuff into a chipper with out a feed conveyer is dangerous which then produces poor quality chip even through something with either twig brokers in or a screen so only producing power station grade stuff so low value and not worth it. Chip the brash your little chipper will handle then keep all strate stuff over say 4" in 2m lengths that could be crane fed into say a hired in hiziohack once dry so producing good g30 chip and a possible return of £15 m 2 + if a local use for it.
  7. No, the mewp, winch, arbortrolly and rigging bag I think ;-)
  8. Going to get that printed and onto workshop door to confuse the lads ;-)
  9. Earn more, sweat less - new company motto right there!
  10. Sorry, won't happen again ;-) Often use a combination of mewp and climb on the same tree, climb rig and swing the top off then use the landy mewp for the main stem when bigger saws get involved. If we went by by the money argument why get a 660 when a 441 could cut the same just slower, why use bull rope when poly prop is cheaper, why rig a tree at all when it could be cut smaller and hand thrown to save having to cut it up on the ground. Petty argument I know but still how I look at it. I agree a climber will beat a mew any day on a crown thin or deadwood where access into the crown is restricted but with the right machine and access I'd like to see any climber beat me on a crown 15% reduction or retrenchment work. We could extend the argument to why use cranes when we could just rig stuff down and handball stuff into a trailer instead of having bits just drift away and land right next to the chipper or onto the truck. Any1 who runs bigger gear like mogs, hiabs 10"chippers forwarders etc should understand investment or initial hire cost of the right bit of equipment can improve efficiency more than anough to cover the cost and actually make more money but it has to be used correctly and by people who know how to get the best out of it.
  11. Not saying there is a right or wrong answer to this as personal preference is a big part of it unless the tree is unsafe to climb but in my opinion what puts a lot of people of mewps is bad experience with them where whoever they are/were working for have specked the wrong machine for the job so it was a bigger struggle than it should have been. Another problem is people are taught how to climb a tree, how to dismantle a tree from ropes, how to rig a tree while tied to it as part of formal training or on the job progression of skills where's formal training in a mewp is setup and drive it round a carpark congratulations your a qualifibopetater or on site is hears the keys crack on! If people received more training or there was actually the training available to help people get the most out of the machine within treework then you may find them more popular. There will always be a time for climbing be it cost or access but I can do 5 days solid dismantling from a mewp and still have energy to take my children swimming om saterday where I'd be lucky to be able to walk properly if I'd tried to climb that much work, all the newer lads who say climb for me it's more macho just wate till you've had a few injuries then see how you feel.
  12. You got yourself a new app or something Paul?
  13. Not your regular tree work type tunage but worked ok. Had a few window , few that looked close moments ;-)

  24. Yeh I know what you mean, starting to get more like that with storing gear as I get more stuff but mostly to help avoid turning up at a job with wrong stuff or without something.
  25. Try having a play with the presets for colours as if you use the protunes setting it brings everything a bit brighter so don't look such a depressing winter day Going to have to ask, what was the tune? I know it just can't name it :what:
