  1. Just look on the bright side, at least you weren't sweating and thirsty ;-)
  2. Willow and pop are about the worst to grind as stringy and fibrous, give me a hawthorn or sycamore any day! Hydraulic grinders like little and often across the stump rather than big slow deep bites of a belt driven machine
  3. I have before when a whole garage had disappeared so I could drive truck rite up to trees. Didn't knock of as much as it saved me though ;-) I made more they saved some everyone happy.
  4. Wasn't 1 built with a tw150 on the back and a chip box smaller than my bait box against the cab? Sure I've got a picture somewhere...?
  5. Think I'd need a bigger grinder to tackle this beast! Luckily nothing more than 8" to do today, just lots of them to get rid of trip hazards between some magnificent trees in a pineetum.
  6. Been there too Now got it in my t & c that any changes in access or site layout since quoting WILL require a renegotiation in price.
  7. Khomos on the 130 twin cab and just put BFG muds on the cherrypicker both 265 75 16 Had all terrains on my old 110 and got 60k miles before writing it off so was happy to shell out for the muds. The Khomos have done about 45kmiles so far and only the fronts are sowing any real damage which isn't bad for a heavy vehicle that's almost always towing. Hopefully the BFG's will cope with a constant 3.2ton on them.
  8. One I like and 1 for a giggle ;-)
  9. Yellow has been proved to attract more insects in summer which is very irritating! Also in this game turns a shade of green and loses its brightness in about a week even with washing, I now give all my lads orange polo shirts and sweatshirt, not hi viz just normal orange which look reasonably smart and easy to wash, we use the Stine water proof jackets which are ok but going to look for something better at the show next month. I find it easy to glance down and spot them on the ground even if it's shady under where I'm working so far easier to see if they ain't running back from the chipper to get more brash
  10. Could ok course have been two role ends left over that have been joined to make a loop up instead of wasting them, done it myself by accident when making 3/8milling chain up for the long bar on the 088 Won't make any difference.
  11. Normal to find this sometimes as just depends on how many drive links in chain and where it was last cut and joined, won't make any difference to how it cuts or behaves, don't worry about it.
  12. A camel back style battery, slim and streamline would be better than round your waste on top of the harness and in the way of other stuff.
  13. That's a good thing as stops it pissing off back to the top all way up to the pully, better it stays put or go's down as it's easier to grab it again and pull up rather than having to climb unnecessarily.
  14. You too bud, really looking forward to looking at possible new chippers, shiny things and catching up with old friends and making new one's.
  15. Ow yes I'll be there for both days. Think might be a few of us from up here travelling in convoy.
  16. Turfalburger tachyon for me, better than BT as a bit stiffer so self tends better. Imo.
  17. Old school loading big logs winching them up ramps, old school jeans and bare head cutting the stump off or was that staged for orthantisaty ;-) :-P
  18. Think my wife has got.of.lightly this year and ordered it as my birthday present, she had better get some hot lava java to go with it!!
  19. Looks more like thousands of pounds worth in that pile!
  20. That's no way for anyone to go, such sad news for the family and friends he's left behind. Sortoff one of my fears after having my colleagues bone broken in a similar situation and also having hitg someone I didn't see all my lads have orange polo shirts and sweatshirt to try and help with spotting them.
  21. Good you got some kids involved which will make them protective of them and help stop them being vandalised, good project.
  22. Will it have to be as not primary life support and more an assister which if it fails your not going to fall. Fancy trying 1 for ddrt climbing or srt access. Looks good.
