I got booted out of my old yard . It was a farm building I was using for free, and the council told me I couldnt keep my tractor there as it was used for horticulture.!

I have had similar argument with my local ea officer. Logs and woodchip taken from a job are considered a waste product, even if you argue that you are selling it on.all local tree contractors round here wont get local authority work without a licence, and cannot dispose waste without one. For the sake of 115 or so for three years, if it saves a huge fine, its worth it.

From experience, my crusher customers have used jcb insurance for cover in hired in plant, so might be worth giving them a call . Or try nfu.

A wheeled excavator such as a jcb sitemaster is taxed at 120 a year upwards, according to a friend who has one. You cannot get them on farm only use if it is road legal apparantley

Mines 6 gears. Yes its noisy at motorway speeds, but you need the low down ratio to be able to tow 3.5tonnes. My exaust has done the same, but was 90 to fix. 700 is steep

I have had them for the last 20 years. Been great. Nissan dealers are useless in sorting servicing and cannot mot the things. The latest ones have limited slip diff as standard. The single wheel ones are 3.4 tomnes, double are 3.5 just for the record. I sold my old double cab truck to a tree surgeon in bristol 4 years ago, and about to sell my current double cab. He said its been the best truck he has ever had. Hehas afixed tool box behind the cab then a chip box behind that. They hold the loads really well, and will tip anything. New ones are really nice to drive too.

Some hydraulic pumps are easy to repair, and some will not.its pot luck. On my crushers, I have to take the engine out and disconnect the hydraulics, which is an hours job each way. Ifyour pump I easy to get at, try replacing the seal first. Its will cost pence rather than pounds

Is this a standard factory fit tipper, or an after market one. Is it tipmaster, ingimex, britt tip or vfs, sometimes called scatollini. The ram needs most power to start to raise a lowered bidy the first couple of inches, so if its overloaded, it wont even go up, the motor will hum, and the fuse will blow. You may have a worn seal on the two stage part of the ram, or low oil.

this is how i deliver if the customer wants a bag and the logs left i a bag. one customer likes four bags delivered and put in her shed. with this setup, its easy!

I looked at a similar job. Wasnt interested in putting mud and stones through the chipper. Some jobs you are best off not getting in the long run

Health and safety are not interested, unless an accident occurs. Environment agency said its not their department, and as for insurance, they are saying its not a requirement!

Whilst I applaud you for taking th initiative in doing the course, why? I have tried to report an unrepuputable company who have undercut loads or genuine people to get work at various housing sites, and it is impossible. There is no one who actually enforces the spraying licence. I spent £600 doing mine, and I am beginning to regret it

I drive machines up ramps all the time. Tracked skiploader, concrete crusher, digger, and used to drive chipper up till I got the custom trailer. Ramps cost 500, and I drilled two holes in the truck bed, and shove a pin into them through the ramp. They never move. I am the only one who will drive a digger up, everyone else is too scared!
