  1. i can`t get a definitive answer to the question I`m doing a little tree inspecting at the moment and ive got to replace some fraxinus excelsior trees that have been felled due to Pseudomonas but I want to replace with fraxinus Ornus but im not sure if it also suffers with the same affliction does anyone know Does Pseudomonas appear on fraxinus ornus? If it does i`ve got to plant up with cheap birch and i dont want to do that.
  2. ive seen the trees in question it will be fun lol......dam busy road though some big ganaderma shots dont forget ya camera
  3. cheers lee, thats good advice, i had them the other day now and i thought they would have a stronger mushroom flavor but i found them quite bland, so ill wait till they pop up again and ill take your advice. cheers

  6. to me the tree looks quite clearly worse for the weather and it ain`t gunna get better.....put it out of its misery and if you don`t like gettting rid plant a couple more
  7. i was talking to one of our ex tree officers about a root pruning job he had given me and he said he had seen roots grow under a guy floorboards so much so that when you take the carpet up you could see then and on another callout he had seen root growing behind the back of some couple fireplace behind a gas fire lol
  8. ive recently been pricing some really small jobs but because they've come in at different times ive not been able to link them and it has affected the pricing whats the least amount that you could charge for a single tree call out ive been charging £100 it does seem high for the jobs that take at the most 40 mins but when you have to get yer gear ready and get to the job and then tipping cost and wages its really a low price but its hard to get the customer to understand this. got the jobs though!
  9. im la to and we where the same ppe as the binmen except for the trouser obviously but when i turn up in a 6.5 ton iveco and a wood chipper tied to the back and get asked if im going to empty the bins .... der nope !
  10. think ive broke one or fractured it myself at this very time! the product of a bit of roping down gone wrong and a 30ft piece of beech chasing me around the tree and battering me in the chest like a large battering ram thing. Hurt like hell three weeks ago and still hurts now when i do any work didnt bother with the hospital but i carried on with the tree like a trooper i can still do work with the help of captain ibuprofen and a couple of codeine for good measure. though ive been told by others it will take about 2 months to fix and yer suppose to expand your chest regularly so as the ribs fix proper....i learn from this one and when roping down dirty great big limbs try to plan a little better.... and dont tell the wife if you have any mishaps it dont help you and it dont help the wife lol still got my ears ringing now!
  11. i think Myerscough do a day course on it
  12. put a plaster on it lol hazard a guess at bacterial wetwood when that gets into pops they tend to ooze a little gas and liquid but this is usuall on the main trunk i think and comes with some smell and cakey limey residue around the wound is there any residue around the wound ? .... this is a wild guess by the way

    Which saw?

for all round work i think you would love a stihl ms460 loads of power and quite light (well light enough to do tree work comfortably) with inter changeable bars, i love mine for ground work and it would make mince meat of anything up to 30"
  19. i didnt like him doing it but i did giggle for around an hour lol
  20. I was with a friend of mine a few years back and after completing a fell in the ladies garden she asked if we could remove the stump... not having a stump grinder in my box of magic tricks handy he told the customer that he would put some stump killer on it, "there will be no charge".... he went to the van and mixed his Vimto with some bleach and put it on top of the stump then proceeds to tell her that she "cant let the kids near the stump for the next 6 months or so".... i felt so bad, but i couldn't stop laughing lol
  21. When on a Sunday morning, you find that taking a little bit of rope to the toilet to practicing yer knots on is as good as taking the paper lol
