  20. Love em or hate em..... they give us all a great deal of work don't they. Personal ive had my mind changed about them over a couple of years ago. i use to think of them as weeds that just grow anywhere ruin the customers garden by laying seeds by the thousand blowing up against walls and dislodging panels and pushing walls over, then you have the honey dew that comes off the leaves and turns anything it comes across a dirty black through sooty molds, this a by product of the gazillion green fly that scatter like dust once you disturb them, the crawl in your ears, nose and mouth your hair feels like you've got nits and you need to see Nora the nurse. Then you have the other side of it the Sycamore is a proper tree in all the sense of it in many cases growing to over 80ft given the right circumstances and if they all disappeared over night how much would the landscape change . People who think of it as a weed take another look at it from a distance, its got great shape, a really good tree form and in spring and autumn has great colour, I always look forward to the first leaves of the sycamore sprouting because i know that in a very short amount of time the landscape is going to be transformed into summer due to the amount of them there are about, they are great to climb also and i know i can always get good shape on a reduce or a thin and theres rarely much dead wood, also you loggers i believe it good to burn. Its hard to believe its not really a native, not sure myself where it originated i thought it came from Greece myself, or that way brought over by the romans but Ive also heard people say they think it came by way of america or Canada.... don't know? What i do know is I like the sycamore an count it as one of my favorite trees Whats your thoughts i would be interested like to know ?
  21. anybody know what monkey puzzle is like to burn on a log fire
  22. i think i lost a friend to then
  23. Ive just finished topping out a largish 50 odd ft conifer but the darnist thing happened whilst doing them.... on initial inspection i noticed some squirrel nests in the conifer so i give them a quick look see to make sure nothing was in there and there wasn't thats good no pink squirrels in the nests and to think of it no squirrels at all to be seen so of i starts chopping away for an hour or so. Im about 40ft up in the air and right next to this bigish nest when i sees something move i looks in the nest nope nothing there... then i noticed at eye level to me the tail of a squirrel now lets not forget ive been letting loose on some rather large limbs off the tree and the saw has been going full belt you would of though it got the general idea that this was an eviction! but nope it just hid on the other side of vertical branch so i gets hold of its tail and give it a yank thinking that will be that....... nope just screamed at me so i ended up actually having to grab it from behind and the by the scruff of the neck i held it up to show my groundie and then i launched it into the next conifer that was being left. then it just climbed up to the to of that conifer and stared me out ....scary!. I know what your all thinking, its got pinkies somewhere but i swear there wasn't anything in them there nests , i think actually it was a young one just left the nest funny as hell though anyone else had this happen ?
  24. got my eye on some giant puff balls for later in the year. i have had them before, they have a very distinct taste in goin to fry with garlic butter
