  7. got to have me one of those !
  8. Im on a klemheist. i have been fro the last few years now i find it easy to set up and if it sticks a little its very easy to loosen with just your thumb http://www.animatedknots.com/klemheist/index.php you could try here for a few ideas. i think everybody goes through different knots, ropes, through out there climbing life and its good to look at other peoples setup. i do it all the time you know "what rope you one mate ?" "nice harness what is it, how do you find it" blah de blah "rope" blah de blah "knots" and i think you settle down for a while on a specific system till you get bored and the grass seems better with a different one or you go on a course and some other new system is developed. change isn't always good but at least you lean that youve got the best system for yourself good luck
  9. dont see the problem looks like youve got 9 good ones left lol
  10. i personally like a good pollard that has been properly done and has been maintain well as in only taking back to the knuckle that has been formed. what i cant stand is the fact that some inspectors just feel that some trees need to be topped and it is topping not pollarding mandatory ie poplars, willows and limes yes i agree it does reduce the maintenance in the shot term but it does not in the long term. it leaves an ugly tree and usually means you have to come back yearly to remove epicormic regularly. a more subtle approach i feel would be is to reduce kinda heavily if needed and keep it up thus forming a neater tree or flop the poor thing and replace with a more suitable tree.
  11. thats bad enough i work for the council and all our vans are PINK !
  12. braces for me i like a little slack around my waist when climbing though you do get more dust around the wedding tackle than a belt
  13. wish i could get my kids up a tree . when i was at a young age you couldn't get me out of the tree
  14. i thought there was a right to light if you've had the same view of well wot ever there sun or a church or something for the last 20yrs and then its removed then you've got rights not sure wot it comes under though. i think its under building regs for extensions but its usable in the case of high hedges where a row has been planted and grown to block your light or veiw.
  15. next door doesn't want them doing and my customer does basically there about 20ft high blocking out the sun to there garden. we did them a couple of years ago and the customer was not happy really because he wanted to take more off but the owner wanted privacy now hes having trouble getting permission from the owner to take them down lower
  16. ive got a customer who is having trouble with some conifers... problem really is that the conifers are not in his garden there in next doors what are the laws surrounding conifers does anybody know apart from the right to light one
  17. i wonder if you can wrap the conifers in a fine net mesh, the new growth will come through the net and you could possibly get a job knocking back the new growth. just a thought
